Hi I'm Sean Callahan

I'm open-minded. I live to laugh. Helping people is my greatest joy. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a convert. As far as I'm concerned August 14th, 2010 will always be the most important day of my life, that's the day I was baptized. I just moved to San Antonio, TX, which has so far been the best decision I've ever made. I absolutely love everything about Texas. I work full time at the moment, and I just recently applied for the Border Patrol. When I was 9 years old I had heart surgery, all of the costs were covered by government programs so I feel like I have a responsibility to serve this nation that I love so much, the heart surgery disqualifies me from military service, so I figure federal law enforcement is the next best thing. I'm an avid reader - of anything - whether it's the words of the back of a cereal box, my favorite book, or the scriptures I've come to love so much, reading is my happy place. It's a chance to get away from the hustle and bustle of the world and be taught. My friends and family are the things I cherish above all else, the love and support they show me is unparalleled and great appreciated. They're always there with a hug, or a laugh, or some sort of sarcastic remark that's perfect for whatever situation I've gotten myself into. Well folks, that's me in a nutshell.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the Church because I needed it. I didn't know I needed it, but sure enough, I did. My life before the church wasn't very much different from how it is now. I grew up with Mormon friends. I had parents who taught me that courage, honor, and charity were the foundation of a good man. I always knew there was something missing though. It wasn't until my best friend left for his mission and I read the amazing stories he wrote home about that I realized what I was missing. That missing piece of my lives puzzle was the Church. I'm a Mormon because I want to be a better man. I'm a Mormon because when everything is dark and fear is creeping into my heart, the Gospel is there with it's brilliant light. I'm a Mormon because no matter where I go, there's someone I can rely on. I love this Church and I know it's true, I know the Book of Mormon is the word of our Heavenly Father, and I know that we have a living prophet. I'm a Mormon because the Church is my home, eternally.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by moving continually. Whether it's teaching children in Primary classes on Sunday or volley ball and scripture study on Wednesday. I find ways to incorporate the Church into every part of my day-to-day life. I strive hard to follow the commandments, not because I'm told to, but because I understand their importance and I WANT to live by them. To me, that's the most important thing about faith, you have to want it. So everyday I wake up and I want to set the example for people around me, I want to live righteously, and I want people to know I'm Mormon. That's how I live my faith. Openly.

What is a ward/stake/branch?

Sean Callahan
A ward or branch is a family. We come together on Sundays as a whole to partake of the Sacrament and to teach, and be taught, by one another. We share each others burdens and joys. As a Mormon, I know that whenever I need something, my ward family is there to help, just as every member of my ward family knows that I will always be there for them. We serve alongside each other, for each other. Show more Show less
