Hi I'm Kevin

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a happily married to a fantastic woman who shows me what it means to truly follow Jesus Christ, and we have two wonderful children who make us laugh and smile every day. I am a physician and am constantly in awe by the wonders of the human body that our Heavenly Father has created for each of us. One of my favorite things to do now is help my son with his homework and to see the new things that he is learning as he progresses through his first year of school. I have recently taken up guitar, and hope to be able to seranade my wife pretty soon. I love sports, whether it is watching them or playing them. I also have a passion for flying and hope to soon have my private pilots' license.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the LDS Church and have always been active, however, there comes a point in every member's life when they have to choose and find out for themselves if the LDS Church is true and if they will truly live the teachings or not. When that point came for me, it turned my world upside down. Things that I once believed now were in question. I prayed like I have never prayed before. I prayed for weeks trying to hopefully show God the faith that is required to receive an answer. I prayed to Heavenly Father to let me know for myself that He was there, that He loved me and if the LDS Church was His true church. After many days of praying and wondering, the answers came. There was no vision, dream or burning bush, but it was a miracle. For Heavenly Father to love me enough to touch my heart and give me the answers that I wanted so badly was my own little miracle. I felt an overwhelming joy and warmth that I knew came from the Holy Ghost. I know that God lives. I know that He listens to our prayers and that He loves each of us. I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior and He is the only way I can get back to my Father in Heaven. I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is His church on earth and has all of His gospel restored. It is the same church that Jesus Christ Himself organized when He was here, now restored through His prophet, Joseph Smith. I am so thankful for a Heavenly Father loves us enough to tell us all these truths.

How I live my faith

I love to live my faith by example. I don't have to tell people that I am LDS, but they soon figure it out after being with me for a short amount of time. It is so fun to answer questions that people have about the church and its teachings. I love being able to explain to people why I choose not to drink alcohol or coffee, why I choose not to go to sporting events or shop on Sunday or why I do not use vulgarity in my vocabulary. I am having a wonderful time teaching the 13 year old kids in Sunday School and letting them know that is OK to be different, it is OK to not go with the peer pressure and it is OK to live the teachings of the church. As I hang out with co-workers and friends that are not of the LDS faith, it is fun to hear their comments and see their reactions as I live my faith. One of my co-workers told me, "You know, for being a Mormon and not drinking, you are pretty cool." Another told me, "You will have to teach me how to have fun without drinking." Hopefully, I am doing just that. I hope that I make my Heavenly Father proud as He looks at me trying to live the teachings of Christ.
