Hi I'm Ann

I am a single woman,entrepreneur,jazz lover,and world traveler. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Life is never how you planned it for some of us. I grew up in a fun family of four children with a loving dad and mom. On both of my parent's lines my ancestors were in the Mormon handcart companies. My ancestry is mainly from the British Isles. I always love to hear the bagpipes so it must be in my DNA for sure. Attending the Highland Games in different areas are one of my passions.I love to dance and used to be quite the disco queen at the church dances.  It is funny because I keep waiting to figure out what I want to be when I grow up. When you are middle age you would think you would have a clue as to what you would like to do for a profession. One of my goals was to get my college degree which I did in my 40's and that still didn't do it.You then realize after you have been a salesman, manager, massage therapist, private investigator, cosmetic sales, operator, limo driver, etc. that it is all about the journey. Never has my job title or income defined who I am, only what my relationship with God does and how I treat my fellow man. The two main goals I had in this life was to get married and have children. So far that hasn't happened but you never know, miracles happen every day.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in a Mormon home. My father was a Bishop in the church. I loved singing the songs as a child at church. The lyrics gave me a knowledge at a young age of who I was, why am I here and where I was going. As I approached my teen years I started to have friends at school ask me what I believed. They knew I did not drink, smoke or did immoral things and wanted to know why. It was then that I really started to pray and read the scriptures including the Book of Mormon. There is a promise from God in the Book of Mormon that if you read that book in faith and pray he will make it known to you if it is the truth. When I did such I had such a personal witness that I could not deny what I felt. I have been an active member ever since. I know that God lives and he is my eternal father. I know that we are part of a divine plan. We are on this earth for a reason It makes no sense to me that we were thrown here to just get by or do whatever we want. I am a Mormon because I know that this is the same gospel that the Savior taught when he was on the earth. He did not teach 5,000 different ways. He taught a simple gospel. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the same restored gospel and it was brought back through the Prophet Joseph Smith. God has always communicated through his prophets. The scripture in Hebrews where God is the Same Yesterday, Today and Forever is the truth. Why would it be any different in this day and age. It is fascinating to me how the world has twisted every commandment from God to fit in with their lifestyle. I am a Mormon because I know God lives,he loves me and wants me to return to him through his divine plan.

How I live my faith

Every Sunday we have a 3 hour block of meetings. Sacrament,Sunday School and a meeting geared for the men, women, teens and youth. Our service in the church is not paid. Since I am single one of my callings in the church is to be over the singles program. Each geographical area is unique in the activities they choose to do. On the first Sunday of the month we have a dinner with a speaker who will give us a spirtual message after we have already had our other meetings. We also have International theme dinners with entertainment from that particular country. We also have dances, service projects, singles conferences and many more activities. I also have another calling where I visit five women every month to check on them and see if I can be of service. It is amazing what you learn about yourself through your callings in the church. You truly recognize your strengths and your weaknesses. The highlight of my week is going to our temple. There is no other place on this earth I can feel the peace within my soul as I do within those sacred walls and feel close to my Father in heaven.
