Hi I'm Heather

I'm a girl from Detroit. I'm a world traveler, a mom, an actor, a photographer, an optimist, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I’m an energetic mom of boys. I met my husband while living oversees and we have shared many exciting adventures throughout the last 20 years. I’ve lived in 4 states and have lived abroad. I enjoy travel, photography, interior design, strategy games, tennis, jogging, music, and theater. I am a lousy cook and we eat out way too often. I’ve lived in everything from a crapy apartment to my dream home and everything in between. We have loved everywhere we have lived. I am a glass 1/2 full kind of girl. I speak my mind and am not afraid to think outside the box.

Why I am a Mormon

My faith has always helped provide a framework for my life. It helped to give me direction and a moral compass as a youth. Being one of only a handful of Latter Day Saints in my community has helped me to stand up for my beliefs--even when viewed by the media as anything but mainstream. I have searched, studied and prayed regularly both The Bible and The Book of Mormon and in them have found peace and comfort. I have visited Latter Day Saint chapels in remote places in Africa, downtown London, Tokyo, Sydney, Chicago, Detroit, Hilton Head Island, Washington DC, Orlando, Phoenix, Austin, Las Vegas, Los Angeles...just to name a few. No matter which of these meeting houses I have attended, I have found continuity, a feeling of love and acceptance and a firm knowledge that this is Christ’s church. It is a church that has taught me to strive for Christ-like qualities like faith, charity, humility, patience, virtue, and strength of character.

How I live my faith

Though I often fall short, my faith in my Redeemer Jesus Christ helps to provide me with hope and a desire to strive harder each day. I enjoy living in a community rich in both religious and cultural diversity. I have attended Catholic mass, Southern Baptist church services, Jewish Bar and Bat Mitzvah celebrations, Greek Orthodox weddings, Bengali New Year celebrations, and have visited shrines and Buddhist temples in Asia with my dear and diverse friends. In turn, I have had friends come to my sons’ baptisms, attend church services and activities with us, and tour our church landmarks and historical sites. I like to draw on the similarities of our values and faiths and enjoy learning from and respect our differences. I am appreciative and accepting of my friends’ diverse beliefs and have come to appreciate their respect and acceptance of mine.
