Hi I'm DaeNeese

I'm a full time student. I work at a library. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I moved around a lot when I was young and I still do. Ever since I was little I have loved to play the piano and sing. I'm not the best but I still find it enjoyable. I go to college full time and I work part time at the local library which I love. I was married last year in the temple to a man that I absolutely adore. I am trying to finish school so that I can have a good education and someday teach my children. I am also trying to learn more about the gospel so that I can also teach them and others I love about the gospel.

Why I am a Mormon

I would not know about the gospel if it wasn't for my Great Grandma. She was baptised when she was a mother but before her, no one in my family was a mormon. I am grateful to her for making that change in her life and for her children and my parents for keeping it a part of their lives until it got to me. I am also grateful for her neighbor that took my grandma to primary while she was young so that she could learn about the gospel. She always had a strong testimony and love for the gospel. I also have a testimony that is renewed everyday through my everyday life experiences that the Church of Jesus Christ is true. So that is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

In my church my husband and I are teachers for the 5 year olds. Everyother week we prepare a short lesson about Jesus and Choosing the right. The children are always excited to hear about Christ. There are times when the children get a little antsy to move around or get distracted by the other children but when we talk about Jesus Christ they can feel the spirit and listen quietly and contently. I think these little children are teaching me as well while we learn. They understand a lot more than I would think and they, like the Book of Mormon says, are like Christ. I hope that by serving my Heavenly Father I can show Him I am willing to do anything He asks of me so that I can attempt to repay a tiny piece of the debt I am constantly in to Him. I also try to regularly attend the temple and always keep myself worthy to go there by keeping the commandments and doing my best to be like Christ.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Jesus Christ's atonement was for everyone in the world. He sacrificed his life in the service of men so that they can have the opportunity to repent and to be ressurected one day. He was the only one who could do that for the world because he was the son of God. Show more Show less

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

When a man and woman are married in the temple and live worthily to go there for the rest of their lives, and repent of the things they do that are not right, then they can be together forever. In the after life our families will be able to be reunited as long as we are righteous and live how Heavenly Father asks us to. So yes, families can be together for ever in heaven if they are married in the temple and live in a way that will give them admittance to the temple. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

We believe that the Bible is the word of God and Holy. We also know that it has been in hands of people who did not translate it correctly. We use the King James version of the bible and also some translations from Joseph Smith which he received revelation for, much like the Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, and Pearl of Great Price. All these books of scripture come from prophets. We also often refer to our semi anual conference speeches from the prophets and apostles as modern scripture. We have classes each Sunday solely focused on one of the four books of scripture we read, and every year we rotate. It is from the scriptures that we learn more about Jesus Christ and how we can be more like Him and that is why they are holy to us. Show more Show less

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

The word of wisdom is a nutritional plan that was given by revelation to Joseph Smith and still used today. Although this revelation came about hundreds of years ago, it is in accordance with what dietitions say as well today. The word of wisdom is like a commandment or a law. It asks everyone to refrain from eating or drinking things that are addictive like alchohol, cigarettes, illegal drugs, etc. It also suggests things that we should eat more of like more fruits, vegetables, and grains. The word of wisdom does not say meat and dairy are bad for you but it does say to eat them sparingly. Keeping the word of wisdom is also a part of temple worthiness. If someone is struggling with smoking or any other addiction, they will need to quit before they will be worthy to enter the temple. The word of wisdom really is wise. It truly was inspired by God. There is a promise that comes with keeping it and that is that we will run and not be weary, walk and not fain, and we will be healthier. Show more Show less

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

Mormons use electricity and dress in normal, but modest, clothing. We drive cars and live a normal lifestyle. Our biggest goal is to be happy and help others to be happy as well. We try to do what we can for others. As we consider family to be a big part of building up the church, much of our time is spent developing our families and also our education. Our leaders encourage us to read our scriptures and pray daily making those things an important part of our lifestyle. Everyday we try to be our best so that we can be more like Jesus Christ. What is the Law of Chastity?

The law of chastity is an important part of everyone's lives. Chastity is one of the major deciding factors in whether or not someone is worthy to go into the temple. Mormons believe that intimacy is something that is only meant for a man and woman after they have been married in the temple. The law of chastity also refers to the viewing of pornography because of the commandment not to lust. People who are chaste are more confident and can develop longer lasting relationships with those around them. It is so wonderful however, that even breaking the law of chastity can be forgiven through time and repentance because of the atonement. Show more Show less

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Mormons believe in the Bible as far as it is translated correctly. The Bible has been translated several times since the first transcript of it and because of this some of the whole truths have been altered a little. We study from the King James version. In it there are stories of Jesus Christ whom we worship and love. The stories in the Bible are about his mortal life on Earth, something the Book of Mormon has less of. That is why we still need to read the Bible and regard it sacred. Show more Show less

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

A testimony is a personal witness of faith. When a person is "bearing" their testimony they are saying what they know to be true in the gospel. A testimony is constantly developing as we study things like church history, The Book of Mormon, Bible, and messages from our prophet and other leaders today. The spirit witnesses to the person that these things are true and then their testimony is strengthened. Show more Show less
