Hi I'm Nathan

I'm an athlete, a student, a son, brother, uncle, a fisherman, a singer, a disciple of Christ. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 20 years old and am serving my Savior as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the California Carlsbad Mission. I grew up in Wyoming and love to be outdoors doing anything. I especially love to get up into the mountains and all of God's Creation to backpack, fish, and camp with my family. I also love to sing and play the piano, although I am not very good Haha. Before I came out on my mission, I was going to school at the University of Wyoming studying pre-medicine, and I plan to continue to do that when I return home. I love to play all kinds of sports, especially football and wrestling and play them whenever I get a chance to. There are 6 children in my family -- 5 boys, 1 girl; Sorry Mary! I love my family and the Lord most of all and will do anything for them.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up a member of the LDS church, but that is not why I am a Mormon today. Just like anybody who has converted to the Church, I came to the point where I had to know if it were true or not. I knew that this is the Lord's Church when I knelt down at the side of my bed one night and prayed to know if it was true. I asked God if the Book of Mormon really was true and if Joseph Smith really was a prophet and if Jesus Christ really was leading this church through the living prophet today. All feelings of doubt or of confusion left, and were replaced by soft, calming peace. It was just like my spirit was able to exhale and I knew without a doubt that the things that I had been taught were true. Not because my parents told me they were true, or because my teacher told me they were true, but because the Holy Ghost told me that they are true. I am a member of this Church because I know that my Heavenly Father loves me and I love Him. I want to do all that He wants me to do. I know that the commandments that we recieve from Him are for our good and will make us happy if we follow those commandments. When we choose to do the things that God wants for us, we are blessed beyond we can imagine. I am a Mormon because I can't afford not to be. I make a lot of mistakes, and without the Atonement of Jesus Christ, I would be lost forever. I know that my sins can be forgiven, and that brings me so much joy!

How I live my faith

As a missionary and a servant of the Lord, my companion and I spend all day every day going about and doing all that we can to share this message of Jesus Christ and His Atonement with everyone that we come into contact with. We always look for people who need any help with anything at all, whether it is moving furniture, yard work, or even cleaning the house. I think that the biggest way that I try to live my faith is by actually doing the things that we teach about as missionaries. I honestly try to help people. I really do love my God and love my neighbor. I truly pray to God and read His word every day. The only way that we can truly live a Christian life is to act on what we learn in the scriptures by putting forth our best effort in doing those things. I love the Lord and because of that love, I do the things that He asks of me.

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

We believe that without grace, nobody can or will be saved. There is no way we can overcome all of our weaknesses and trials with out it. This does not mean that once we have faith in Christ we are saved by His grace no matter what. His grace is sufficient to save everyone who will be meek, humble, and repentant. We learn that we must become like a little child in order for His grace to have an affect on our lives. There is no hope without His grace, but there is no hope for His grace if we do not do all that we can to live a Christlike life. Show more Show less
