Hi I'm Blake

I love to learn and laugh, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in a loving family with two incredible parents who taught me the greatest values I now have today. I grew up like any other child with his head in the clouds and his nose in the fantasy novels. I attributed a great love for reading at a young age and haven't looked back since! I enjoy studying all topics of truth whether it be science, history, or even cook books, I love to learn! My most definitely favorite subjects to study and read are the Holy and Sacred scriptures, especialy The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ. I love these records of holy writ because of the peace they bring to my heart, the knowledge they bring to my mind, and the power they bring to my soul. I love the Book of Mormon most of all because it was the key tool that opened my mind and my heart to the Eternal and Never Ending love of our Heavenly Father and the Savior, Jesus Christ. This sacred spiritual experince changed my life forever for good because for one, with that strengthened Testimony came the desire to serve my fellow man and be a Missionary once I come of the apporopriate age. This experience also opened my heart to greater love and understanding to all of God's children here on the earth, and again, this powerful witness also gave me a desire to change for the better in my every day life and live more in accordance with the commandments of God, for I knew that it is by following the Almighty that we recieve a fulness of joy in this life.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because I received that undeniable witness by the power of the Holy Ghost that this is the only true and living church of Jesus Christ on the earth today. I am a Mormon because I want to be the best I can be at all times, in all things and all places. This Church has all the truths concerning Christ and His Gospel on the earth today. I know this because He restored it through His chosen prophet, Joseph Smith. I know that God, the Eternal Father, loves all His children and I bare witness that we are indeed His children. He wants what is best for us, and He wants us to choose the right way in life; therefore, He has called and commissioned Prophets and Apostles, as in days of old, to show us the way we should go and what we should do to gain Eternal Happiness. I know with all my heart, mind, and soul that Jesus is the Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God in the flesh. I know that He left His Heavenly Courts from on high and came to Earth in the most humble of circumstances, born in a Manger. I know Jesus Christ to be that Messiah which the prophets Moses, Elijah, and even all the Holy Prophets testified of. I know Christ to be the Way the Truth and the Life, and that He was our great example in all things that He did during His Mortal Ministry. I know that Jesus Christ loves us all, that He loved all in His mortal life-time, and that He loved all those before even down to the days of Adam, our first father. I know this to be true because He suffered the pains of our sins in Gethsemene and on Calvary, which pains we will not have to suffer if we will repent through His Holy name. He was submissive to His Father in all things for He did only the Father's will, not His own. I know that Jesus Christ died on the cruel cross so that all may live for He truly is the first-fruits of them who sleep in death. I testify that Jesus Christ lives! I know it beyond a doubt by the Holy Ghost.

How I live my faith

I live my Faith by serving the young men in our Church ward who are between the ages of 16 and 18. I find great delight in this because they are the same age as myself, and they are my brothers! I grew up with these guys and I love them as I do my own flesh and blood. I also teach three wonderful families the words of our Prophet, Thomas S. Monson, and his counselors every month with my father. I also enjoy just helping those who look like they need it whether it be a smile, a "Good morning", etc. I know that when we are out there serving our fellow brothers and sisters, we are also serving our God, exactly as it is taught in the Gospel of Matthew Chapter 25, verse 40.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

The best way to know the truth of anything (especially Momonism) is to ask the giver of truth, God. Ask God in faith with nothing wavering, and the answer will come. Show more Show less

Mormons believe Jesus Christ is their Savior. Why do we need a Savior?

The Bible tells us that everybody sins and comes short of the Glory of God. This is a true statement, and our Heavenly Father knew that we, His children, would sin against His laws; therefore, He sent His only Begotten Son in the flesh, Jesus Christ, who was also the only sinless (Perfect) man to ever walk the earth to take upon Himself the sins and pains of every man, woman and child. Christ suffered this Eternal and Infinite Atonement while in the Garden of Gethsemene and on the Cross at Golgotha. Jesus Christ is our Pure and Unspotted Sacrafice for sin! When we truly and whole-heartedly repent and accept His Atonement, we can forever be forgiven of our sins and no longer be filled with guilt and sorrow from those past sins and transgressions. I testify that Christ's Grace is sufficient for all people. Whatever the wrong, through diligence and constant reliance upon the Lord, it can and will be overcome and you will feel the love of an Eternal Parent so willing and ready to forgive His repentant children, and also the love of our Resurrected Master who suffered for you and me so that through His pure and precious blood, we too may be found spotless at the Last Day. How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

We increase our faith in Jesus Christ by following His commandments. Whether it be reading the Holy Scriptures everyday, praying every morning and night, or attending Church Meetings regularly, etc. these all can increase an individual's faith and reliance upon the Savior of the World. The key to increasing your Faith in Christ is, I'd say, diligently seeking Him in all you do. Seek out His love and the saving power of His Atoneing sacrafice in your prayers. Seek after His word and teachings as they are written in the scriptures. Seek after the Master as you serve your fellow man, for when we are in the service of them we are in His service (Mosiah 2:17 Book of Mormon). Look for Christ in your life as you diligently follow His commandments and you will find Him. Your Faith in Him will grow as you do this. Your love for Him will grow as you do this. I know it! Even if you have only a desire to believe, you too can come to know God and Christ Crucified through these things, for that is how I came to know my Eternal Father and my Savior. Show more Show less

Why do Mormons baptize their new members?

As Latter-day Saints (Mormons) we are a covenant people. This means that we have made personal promises to keep God's commandments and ordinances. One of the first covenants we take upon ourselves is the Covenant of Baptism, or the Baptismal Covenant. This ordinance is required for everyone to enter into God's kingdom as taught by our Master in John 3:5. Baptism (along with all the outward ordinances of the Church) is a beautiful symbol of our Savior's death and Resurrection; for when we are immersed entirely in the water by a member who worthily holds the Priesthood of God, it is symbolic of Christ being laid in the tomb; and when we come forth again out of the water, we are Resurrected, as He was Resurrected on the thrid day, to a newness of life being clensed of our past sins through His Atoning sacrafice which cleansing comes from the gift of the Holy Ghost (the Baptism of Fire) by the laying on of Priesthood bearing hands. The covenant we make at Baptism is to have faith and follow Jesus Christ and His commandments, to strengthen and support our fellow Church members and neibhors who do not share our beliefs, and to stand as witnesses of Christ at all times, in all things, and in all places to the end. When we do these things we are blessed to have the Holy Ghost in our lives always, and the guidance that it brings is truly something we as God's children trying to return home to Him need in this day and age.
