Hi I'm Rachel

I am a wife, mother and a speech-language pathologist. I love the outdoors. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Currently, I spend most of my days taking care of my little boy and doing what I can to support my husband through dental school. I am blessed with a flexible job as a speech-language pathologist that allows me to work just a few days each month. It has always been really important for me to get an education and begin a career in a field that would allow me to be my kids' mom. I feel that with my degrees I would be able to support a family if necessary, but my main responsibility and desire is to raise my children well. Whenever we get a chance, the three of us get out to enjoy the outdoors! My husband and I love to hike, bike, and camp together. Especially in the mountains! Now we get to take our little boy loves to go with us. He loves rocks and dirt! Music has always been a part of my life. I love to sing and play the guitar. I strive to fill my home and car with good music. Luckily, our toddler loves the classical music so far! We'll see how long that lasts...

Why I am a Mormon

3 main reasons: 1. It's Jesus Christ's church. I want to follow the Master. He gave us this organization and Gospel so that we could learn how to become like Him and eventually return to our Father in Heaven. 2. It has made me free. Largely because of my testimony and faith in Jesus Christ and his true, restored church I am free of the addictions that plaque so many people in the world today. Since I was little, I have had guidance concerning what things to avoid (e.g. alcohol, pre-marital sex, smoking, pornography), what things to engage in with moderation (e.g. texting, surfing the internet, eating sweets and meat, uplifting entertainment, wholesome recreation) and what things to ensure are constantly a part of my life (e.g. prayer, scripture study, family home evening, developing family relationships). My obedience to the commandments in the scriptures and given by modern prophets has kept me clean and pure...and free! 3. It has brought me peace and true happiness. It feels good to do good. It makes me happy to love and serve others. I feel the kind of peace Christ has promised (John 14:27). Even during the hard times, I feel peace as I trust in Him.

How I live my faith

Every day I am trying to be more and more like Jesus Christ. It is slow progress, but I know he is helping me as I try my best to repent and try again when I make mistakes. I am also trying to learn from Christ how to be a good mother. He was the best servant, teacher, healer, and friend...all of whom a mother must be to her children. As far as my responsibilities and activities at church, right now I play the piano for one of the meetings. I am a part of the choir because I love to worship through song. I also visit four different women who go to my church at least monthly to make sure they are doing ok and bring them a spiritual message. I strive to do to is to attend activities and service projects that are planned so that I can get to know others and so that I can serve.
