Hi I'm Karen

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 22 years old, recently graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor's Degree in Home and Family Living and a minor in Business. I currently work for a student housing apartment complex as an assistant office manager while my husband is finishing his undergraduate degree. Almost 2 years ago, I married my best friend in the Washington D.C. temple where we were sealed together for time and all eternity. We plan to move back to the East coast once my husband is done with school since we are both from there. We don't have any kids yet, but hope to start our family very soon.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family that was members of the Church for generations back. My whole life I have gone to an LDS Church and been taught the principles of the Gospel. When I became a teenager and was faced with many difficult decisions about life and which path I was going to follow, I had to really find out for myself if what I had been taught for so many years was really true and worth living. I took the time to read the Book of Mormon and all other books of scripture, pray about them sincerely, and ask for my own confirmation from the spirit. From that moment on I knew that I had no choice but to be a part of Christ's true Church and follow his teachings the best that I could. This one decision has influenced my entire life - where I attended college, the person I chose to marry, and all other decisions I have made that have led to my lasting happiness. I've developed such a strong testimony of this Gospel that no matter what may happen in my life, I will never be able to deny it's truth. I know that I have a Father in Heaven who knows me and loves me, and that we are all his children. I know that the scriptures are the word of God and that the Book of Mormon is a true book, translated by a man through the power of God. I know that Joseph Smith was a true Prophet of God, called by him to re-establish his true Church on the Earth in these latter-days. I know that God has given us a living Prophet for our day and his name is Thomas S. Monson. I am more grateful for this fact than any other, because the guidance he provides is so specific to our day and has given me so much strenght throughout my life. I know that Christ suffered and died for the sins of the world and because of that I can be forgiven for my own mistakes and return to live with God someday. These sure truths are the reason I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I feel so privileged to get to work with the young women of my community through my Church participation. Every Sunday I get to teach a lesson to about eight girls from ages 16-18 about principles of the Gospel and other guidance to help them make correct decisions in their life. I also get to be part of one of the largest women's organizations in the world as we visit each other at least once a month and get together for fun activities. My church family is such a huge support system that I am very grateful for.
