Hi I'm Heather
I'm a mom. I'm a teacher. I love to play sports (basketball is my favorite) and I'm a Mormon.
I am a mother of four. I just finished my masters degree in elementary education. I substitute teach at my kid's school as much as I can. I recently found a passion for reading. I read as much as I can. I love to play sports...basketball, volleyball, soccer. I have a big family, 4 brothers and 2 sisters, that I love so much. We get together as often as possible but isn't often enough. I secretly have the desire to travel. I want to see the world but I have a fear of traveling over oceans. Some of my greatest accomplishments are my children but when I was in high school I received Female Athlete of the Year. It was the best feeling ever. It was like everything I had worked so hard for was finally appreciated. Now as a mother I have little moments like that all the time but I don't know that I will ever feel like all the hard work is appreciated until my kids have kids. I love to surround myself with people who inspire me and bring out the best in me.
Why I am a Mormon
I am Mormon originally because I was born into a family that belonged to the LDS church. However, throughout my life I have gained a true understanding of what the church stands for and teaches. I remember being a teenager and feeling as though the guidelines were strict and unbearable. However, as I followed those guidelines and sometimes did not follow them, I learned of God's love for me. I knew that He loved me so much through my sins and he helped me through my trials. I suffered a great loss as a teenager; I lost my mother. It was then that I felt the true power of His plan. I knew that I would see my mother again. I knew she was all right and that she loved me. I know that my Savior loves me and this church, His church, is true. He loves us so much and has given his life for us to have life and to be able to return to our Father in Heaven. The righteous decisions that his church guides us to make prepares us to live in the presence of God. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and He has given us this book for guidance and directions in our lives on earth. I trust my Heavenly Father and His son, Jesus Christ. I know that they lead and guide me through the Holy Ghost. I know that if I make righteous choices and allow Christ to be the center of my life, I will live with God again.....and my mom will be there too.
How I live my faith
I live my faith my serving in the church. I serve as a choir director. I feel so much strength and love from music. It is amazing the effect music can have on a congregation......the warmth and power that people feel. I am grateful to be part of so many moving experiences. It is amazing to hear the people of the congregation come up to sing in the choir and turn into a chorus of angels bringing God's message of love to all. I know it sounds cheesy it is really how it sounds. I also like to teach within the church whenever possible. I like to teach the women of our congregation and share with them the peace and love I feel as I learn more about Christ's church and his teachings. Whenever possible I visit with the children and teach them too. I live my faith everyday in my life. I live it with my kids. I make sure they know how much I love them and as they walk out the door I have faith that God will watch over them while I can't. I pray that they will always be safe and remember what I taught them. Then I teach them more about being a respectful human being with values, morals, standards and faith in God the Eternal Father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost.
