Hi I'm Jason

I'm a basketball player; I'm a snowboarder; I'm a missionary; I'm a son, brother, uncle, grandson, and a friend; and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 18 years old and am preparing to serve a mission for the church in Medellin, Colombia beginning October 8, 2014. I have been blessed with the most incredible family in the world, consisting of myself, my two wonderful parents, two beautiful sisters, two hardworking brothers-in-law, and an amazing brother. I have lived my entire life in Mesa, Arizona, and have made countless memories here. If I could I wouldn't change a single thing about my life. I have the best friends I could ever ask for, most of which are already serving missions for the church or are planning on serving in the near future. All that I have and all that I am I owe to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and to the teachings and principles of his Church. I am eager and anxious to begin my missionary service in Colombia for the next 2 years. I am a Latter Day Saint through and through, and for that, I am eternally grateful.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born a Mormon, I was raised a Mormon, and I am still a Mormon. I have felt the Spirit of Christ testify to me of the truthfulness of this gospel on more occasions then I can count. I know without a shadow of a doubt that this church is true and that it truly is Christ's restored gospel on the earth today. I can honestly tell you that the biggest reason that I am a Mormon is because it makes me happy. Words cannot describe the joy that the gospel brings to my life and to the lives of my family members.

How I live my faith

I have been called to serve as a missionary for the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Medellin, Colombia and I will begin my missionary service on October 8, 2014. I attend church every Sunday and am working as a primary teacher, in charge of teaching the 6 and 7 year olds in my ward area. I try and be an example to those around me of how the principles of the Church can positively impact the lives of everyone.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Jason
Missionary service is not a requirement for any member of the Church. Rather, missions are a voluntary act of service that many, myself included, consider a privilege. Missionaries come from all over the world, and they serve wherever the Church calls them. Throughout their period of service (18 months for young women and 2 years for young men), missionaries are official representatives of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and all that they do they do in His name and for the cause of bringing people closer to Him.
