Hi I'm Macy

I'm a singer, a wife, a photographer, and a mother. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Forget raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens! My favorite things are way more fun...my husband. Playing with my kids. Laughing. Singing. Krispy Kreme Cream Filled Donuts. So You Think You Can Dance. My iPhone. Making time to exercise. Making chocolate chip cookies. Cooking a great meal from my Barefoot Contessa cookbook. Singin' in the Rain. (The musical - though I have been known to sing in the rain...) Playing with friends. Getting to see a Broadway show. Chipotle Burrito Bowl with carnitas and guacamole. Checking Facebook. Blogging. Twittering. Yo Gabba Gabba... My very favorite things? My family and my faith. I'm very blessed to get to share how I feel about both through my singing performances and my photography. My life hasn't been easy. It certainly hasn't been what I was expecting. But my Father in Heaven has been with me through it all, and I'm grateful for the light and knowledge the Gospel has provided as I've encountered the challenges and difficulties that have come my way.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into this church, but found I needed to be converted to it and choose it as well. I remember deciding to really read and study the Book of Mormon when I was in high school. I wanted to know for myself that it was true. So, I read it. I prayed about it. And I can tell you that it is true. That small experience - finding out for myself that the Book of Mormon is true and is another Testament of Jesus Christ - has been the foundation for my belief in the Gospel. I have found that as I encounter challenges great and small, that I come back to that first experience of knowing for myself that the Book of Mormon is true.

How I live my faith

I love the opportunity to serve the people around me - especially those in my ward. Right now, I'm working with the Primary children (ages 3-11) and I love it. I recently left my job as a music teacher to stay home with my kids, and having the chance to still teach and serve those kids is such a blessing in my life. I serve as a musician whenever I have the opportunity, and I love visiting with the sisters that I get to go visit teach every month. The best part of living the Gospel is striving to learn well enough to be the best parent to my children that I can be. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is all about family, and my family is the most important thing in the world to me. I'm so grateful to know that I have been sealed in the temple to my husband, and that if we keep the commandments, we will be together forever as a family unit. This doctrine is especially meaningful to me since my mom died 11 years ago. I know because of my Savior that I will see her again.
