Hi I'm Ben

I'm an Advertising Ph.D student at the University of Texas, a husband, a father of four, a free-lance designer and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hello! My name is Ben. I'm a husband, a father, student, and a lover of good design. I love all things creative, and spend my time as a free-lance graphic designer and as a full-time student pursing a Ph.D. in Advertising. I love reading, learning and sharing my favorite things, so thanks for spending a few minutes on my profile.

Why I am a Mormon

The simplest answer to why I am a Mormon is that I believe in my faith. I am a Mormon because I believe in Jesus Christ and in His words. As our loving friend, Jesus provided a clear formula for us to follow. In John He taught, "If ye love me, keep my commandments." He also promised us that if we would keep His commandments, He would send us His Spirit and that this Spirit "will guide [us] into all truth." I love my Savior and try my hardest to live according to His teachings. I'm not always perfect at this and I know that His mercy and grace make up for my inadequacies. When I am doing my best to live as He has asked, I am able to feel the divine pull of His Holy Spirit guiding me and I believe that He has fulfilled His promise by leading me, clearly and distinctly, to His true faith: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

How I live my faith

The best way to answer "how I live my faith" is to simply say that I do my best to follow my Savior. Jesus taught us that our love for Him should be demonstrated by our best efforts to live according to His words. I believe this and I do my best to spend a little time reading the scriptures, keeping a prayer in my heart, trying to be a good husband, father, co-worker and friend and to live a life of kindness and goodness, every single day. Another way I am able to live my faith stems from the fact that our church does not have paid clergy. At the local level, this means that I and my family get to serve alongside the other members of our congregation as each of us fulfill a specific calling or responsibility. This means that I have had the opportunity to provide sermons on gospel subjects, participate in blessing and distributing the Sacrament (bread and water), teaching children, helping in the nursery and organizing activities and events.
