Hi I'm Caryn

I'm a fitness instructor, wife to a handsome accountant, mother of 4, lover of chocolate, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love being a fitness instructor! Fitness has changed how I feel about myself & everyone else in the world! My family enjoys all types of sports and good weather. Family runs & bike rides are a daily occurrence. My newest love, skiing! I'm also a singer, very much a Julie Andrews type. My three daughters love the Sound of Music and all things Taylor Swift. I'm trying to protect my infant son from all the pink pouring out from his sisters! They are pink tom-boys! We love to camp together, and are often caught watching "Man vs Wild!" My ambition is to complete my degree in choral conducting and be a high school choir teacher. I'm also studying for my Personal Training certification. I love to laugh and Brian Regan is my favorite comedian. My husband, Paul, and I can quote him all day long! BYU is my favorite football team! Every game day is an exciting, blue and white day at our house. Our kids can all sing the fight song!

Why I am a Mormon

I love being a Mormon! There is such happiness & peace living the way Heavenly Father teaches us to. The summer before I turned 16 I wanted to discover for myself that the Book of Mormon was true. I began to read the Book of Mormon honestly looking for evidences of Jesus Christ. Every day for a week I knelt in earnest prayer pleading with God to tell me if it was true, if He was real, and if the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was true. The days came and went and I felt no prompting that it was true. I began to despair. The following week was a church youth camp. We drove 6 hours to a campsite near a river where we would white water raft. The first night I became very sick. All night long I prayed for relief. At dawn I woke up my sister and told her how sick I was. I received a priesthood blessing. "According to your faith you will be healed," it promised. I considered that. I was definitely showing my faith, especially as I sought for affirmation that the Church was true. As the day went on my condition worsened. Finally, just before the rest of the group went to the river I was asked if I wanted another priesthood blessing. This was the most wonderful experience! Two men again placed their hands on my head. I knew the voice speaking. It was a good family friend. I also knew the words I was hearing were straight from God! He told me he knew of my efforts and that he was proud of me! I had not discussed my efforts to find out if the church was true with anyone, but God in prayer. My body was then commanded to be healed. I felt a great warmth spread through my heart and a surge of joy! I was indeed healed! I went straight to the river and climbed on a raft! Heavenly Father was testing my faith & my desire to believe by not answering me immediately. This helped to greatly strengthen my faith & give me an experience I will never forget. I know God loves me and this is His church.

How I live my faith

Our belief in God needs to be nourished daily so every day I spend some time searching the scriptures to learn more about my ultimate example, Jesus Christ. It's a special part of my day. One thing I get to do for my congregation is to lead the choir. Oh, I love it! I love to search for songs that really testify of the reality of Jesus Christ and His grace. Then to study the song and all its layers! I so enjoy that! Rehearsals with the choir thrill me and I love to stand before them. Together we've made some incredible sounds! My favorite way to testify of Jesus Christ and His gospel is through music. As a singer, I look for any opportunity to sing about my faith! I'm also the DJ for our youth dances. It is so amazing and fun! I specifically choose songs whose messages are in line with our values. My favorite type of song to play is the line dance. I love how all the youth scream and run to the dance floor! I enjoy watching them teach each other the latest steps and seeing them having a great time!
