Hi I'm Anita

I'm a dramatic storyteller, a wife, mother and wacky sister. I love gardening, reading books and ignoring messes. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love, love, love dramatic storytelling and music, especially songs and stories from other lands. As a mom, I have a built-in studio for practicing both, and my children are very willing to Give Their Honest Feedback (sometimes at the top of their lungs/snores). My favorite stories are those with spunky female lead roles! I love gardening with my children, even though my back muscles don't always appreciate it, a feeling seconded by my children. My own parents would always vouch for the incredible utility of hard work, though, and they're pretty doggone smart people, so my own little family will garden through the aches and moans. When we're all tired, I often think of my dad's favorite saying, "The most important thing we grow in the garden is the character of our children." My daughters have learned to enjoy gardening because they can listen to me telling stories over weeding jobs! I am married to the most fabulous man in the world -- sorry, all the rest of you -- who can come across as Wayyy Too Serious except that he's busy coming up with the craziest jokes inside. It's probably a coping mechanism he's developed for dealing with ME! It's my husband's job to answer our teenagers' questions about science and math.

Why I am a Mormon

I have not always had my own testimony of The Church of Jesus Christ, and too often as a teenager I would go to church out of habit, or just because I didn't want to 'make waves' with my parents. Later, as I read, prayed and pondered to find my own answers to the concerns I had, I gradually felt the peace and love of God changing my heart. Some of the questions have taken many years to answer, but that makes the answers feel all the more precious. I'm a Mormon because the teachings of Jesus Christ bring me immeasurable joy.

How I live my faith

I listen. I testify. I friendship. I smile. I bite my tongue. I sing. I counsel. I cry. I hug. I greet.
