Hi I'm Brittany

I'm a world traveler, a spicy-food lover. I love Asians, I'm a big sister and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I come from a family of 5. My family means everything to me. I have moved around a lot when I was young. I sort of grew up all over the world and I have lived in several different countries (America, Mexico, China, England). My family and my Saviour, Jesus Christ, have been my only constants. I love to experience different cultures and I especially love trying different foods. I feel so blessed to have been able to live in so many different places and to have had so many opportunities while growing up. I have just returned from a mission in Manchester, England speaking Chinese. Before my mission I was studying Asian studies in university. I used to be a pretty shy person but I decided to change that when I went on a mission. I love all kinds of sports, especially football (soccer) and basketball. I hope to someday be fluent in Mandarin and live in China again.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church and was taught our values from a very young age. My parents are great examples to me and have given me an amazing life. I have a testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I love this church and I know that by living the gospel and keeping the commandments I can return to my Heavenly Father. Life is hard and I would not be able to get through it without the gospel in my life. Growing up all around the world has helped me appreciate and see that everyone is a child of God. He loves all of us no matter what we look like, what we eat or how we dance. God does not judge our outward appearances but only looks at our heart. Knowing that I am a daughter of God has greatly shaped my life. There was a time when I had very low self-confidence and very little self-worth. I went through a period where I questioned my beliefs, as many do. That period of time was hard and very dark. I struggled to know what my purpose is and whether or not anyone cared. I was able to change my life around through living the principles of the gospel of Jesus Christ. He is my Savior and this is his church. I have never experienced greater happiness than when I put my faith and trust in God. He has a special plan for each of us. I am a mormon but more than that I am a follower of Jesus Christ, he gives me purpose.

How I live my faith

I said I used to be shy. Growing up I would share my faith by trying to be a good example to others. I found that more than what we say is what we do and people do watch our actions. I get strength from reading the scriptures. There is power in the Book of Mormon and I love reading it everyday. I know that God communicates with me daily as I read his word and pray for strength. I attend church each week and try my best to fulfill my church callings. I am no where near perfect, but living righteously makes me happy and I want others to have the same happiness in their lives. As I said, I also served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I fulfilled this call from the Lord by teaching people why I am a Mormon and how they can come closer to our Saviour Jesus Christ.

Mormons believe Jesus Christ is their Savior. Why do we need a Savior?

Mormons are Christians. We are the Church of Jesus Christ. I need a Saviour. I think one of the biggest reasons I need Jesus Christ is because I make so many mistakes. Whenever I make a mistake I create distance between God and me. God has given us rules in this life to help us to be happy. As we keep these rules we free ourselves from the consequences and sorrow of life. God although, did not want to force us to obey him. He gave us our free agency or ability to choose what we want, because it is our life. Because God knew we would make mistakes, he provided for us his Son, Jesus Christ. Christ sacrificed himself for us and before that he suffered for our sins. Any pain, grief, guilt or sorrow that we go through in life has passed through Christ. He has literally felt everything we feel. I know the horrible feelings that come from making a mistake and through Christ I can be freed from those terrible consequences and feelings of guilt. It sometimes takes time but the more we confess the things we do wrong and take the steps to correct our mistakes, we become closer to Christ. We all need a Saviour. He is one of my greatest friends and heroes. He is the ultimate example of how live our lives. Show more Show less
