Hi I'm Nephi

I do oil & gas engineering and like the great outdoors. I love to spend time with my family of nine and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have worked in oil and gas drilling since 1998 and was involved in developing technologies to access the earths most abundant natural energy resources safer and more efficiently. I have degrees in mechanical engineering, materials science and business administration from German and US universities. I was born in Germany as a Citizen of Holland and spoke English at home with my Belgian mother, my Dutch father and six siblings. After my church service mission my mother introduced me to my wife and we were married in the Frankfurt, Germany temple. We both graduated from BYU and moved six times in the first 10 years of our marriage. We are married over 21 years and have 7 children, 4 boys and 3 girls. I love the outdoors. I like mountain biking for exercise and windsurfing for family beach fun. I like to tinker and improve our home and am a hobby craftsman where my kids are around me often. We are building a dry sauna spa area for more quality family time.

Why I am a Mormon

Life is so good and there are so many wonderful things for us to experience. I strive for all that is good and praiseworthy and of good report. The Lord Jesus Christ has a plan of great worth for me and as I trust in Him in all things He continues to strengthen me and bless me. Being a scientist I know that I need to work things out and bring solutions to the altar of the Lord and then He blesses me with His Spirit to do what is right. The Lord God is a perfect loving father and knows me from before the world was created. He know my potential and believes in me. My father was gathered around his grandfathers deathbed as the family took their farewell with uplifting song and music. Grandfather was not a member of any church but worshiped the Lord God faithfully to the best of his knowledge. He took my father aside and prophesied: "I have looked for the true church of Christ all the days of my life and have not found it. You will find it. Promise me that when you find it that you will join and be faithful to it all the days of your life." I follow my father and his grandfather in a passionate mission to be true and faithful to the true and living church of Jesus Christ all the days of my life. I know that this is the true and living Church of Jesus Christ in these the last days before the great second coming where the Lord shall rule perfectly on this earth. This the true church has a living prophet who communes with the great Jehovah and guides us today. The Book of Mormon is a second witness of Jesus Christ whose prophets and people lived on the American continent during the times of the old and new testaments. Jesus after his resurrection appeared to these other sheep of his fold and established truth as a second witness. The teachings of the Bible and this second witness are joined to confound false doctrines. Truth is eternal. My best friend is my Savior. When I center my life around him then I have the capacity to love my wife and children.

How I live my faith

My most important mission in the church is to be a righteous husband and father. My passion is to be a leader in all things that are virtuous and charitable. My family life has regular living, loving and laughing and I look for teaching moments to raise children in the Lords way. My second most important calling is to reach out to families and friends. I strive to be compassionate and to share their burdens and their joys. When my church leaders ask me to serve I accept as if my Lord were asking. My mother taught me by her example to wear out our bodies, our hands and feet, in the service of those in need, most especially the widows and the fatherless. Service could be to harvest, to garden, to paint or repair, to take a basket of goods, to visit, to be a friend and to care. I currently teach the young scouts. We have a lot of fun and brotherhood. I have served in various leadership positions like bishoprics, elders quorum, young men's classes, and church administration. I love to teach from the scriptures and bring the stories of Jesus alive by applying them to my life. My favorite assignments are to teach in the home of a family and next in a class at church.
