Hi I'm Debra Lynne Thurber

I'm a Mormon. I grew up in a small farming community in Southeastern Utah. I am the oldest of four and love being a Mormon!

About Me

I am 57 years old, have two children and three grandchildren. I love to horse back ride, arrange flowers and cook. I love the beauty of the great out doors and marvel each day at Gods creations. I am passionate about learning and love to read, mostly church history and biographies. I was single for several years and recently met and married a man who loves the Lord as I do. Our love and companionship has been a treasure worth waiting for. I work full time as a business office manager, it is rewarding and keeps me on a constant learning curve.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a Mormon my entire life. I grew up in a family where it was normal and natural for me to live the gospel of Jesus Christ. I am the oldest of four children and I always felt a responsibility to live as I had been taught so as to be an example to my younger siblings. I served 18 months as a full time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints when I was 21. That mission experience grounded my in my faith and helped me realize what a blessing being a Mormon is. The values that I have been taught and have lived by as a Mormon have blessed me as a daughter of God, as a mother and grandmother and now as a wife. I love my membership in this church and hold it as a priceless treasure. Being a Mormon enables me to live in a world of sorrow, fear and pain with a perfect brightness of hope and a desire to be better each day. As a Mormon I know where I came from, why I am here and where I am going after I leave this earth. That to me is precious comforting knowledge.

How I live my faith

Being an active member of the Mormon church allows me to not only live my faith but to live BY faith. During my life I have worked with young children, young adults and the women in the church. I love serving the elderly and have a passion for visiting teaching. To be a visiting teacher is the most divine way we can serve one another on this earth. We get to know others personally, it allows us the opportunity to understand the needs and wants of others. Serving as a visiting teacher allows us to forget ourselves and do as the Savior did, "Love One Another". My prayer is that I can live my faith in a way that others will see and desire to know more about my faith. I love my Savior and am so very grateful for my knowledge of the restoration, and of living prophets on the earth today. I know God lives and that his son Jesus Christ is our Savior, that he hears our prays and desires our happiness. I live my faith because I have faith that this is true.
