Hi I'm Katie

I grew up in California. I am an Elementary School Music Teacher. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 23 years old and grew up in Wrightwood, California. I now live in Salt Lake City, Utah. My family is my life. I have an amazing husband, three sisters, and three (and a half) nephews who are my world! We have a lab mix dog named Buddy. I am a Lakers fan and enjoy going to BYU football games with my husband. I love learning and have made it a life-long pursuit. I graduated from BYU-Idaho with my Bachelors degree in Music Education. I am currently an Elementary School band teacher. I decided to become a music teacher because I wanted to work with students to be able to make a difference in their lives and help them to develop talents that they may not know they have. I have been truly blessed in my life, and it only continues to get better! :)

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because as I have lived its teachings, I have discovered true happiness. Any question any one has ever had is answered in this gospel. I know where I come from, I know I am a daughter of God, I know that my family is forever, and I know this church is true. I came to know this church is true through studying its teachings, the scriptures, and through prayer. Heavenly Father hears and answers our prayers. This church provides the fullness of truth. The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. It is a witness to the truthfulness of the Bible. We have a prophet, President Thomas S. Monson, who leads our church today. He is God's mouthpiece here on earth. I know that as we learn to trust in the Lord with all of our hearts, and lean not unto our own understandings, we will truly be blessed and happy.

How I live my faith

Currently, I am serving as the Primary Chorister in my ward. On Sundays, we sing songs that help children to learn the principles and doctrines of the gospel. Through music, children are able to feel the Holy Ghost and be taught through song. On a daily basis, I strive to study my scriptures and pray. Morning and Evening prayer to my Father in Heaven are the best ways to begin and end every day. I have found that if I bookend my days with prayer, everything else in the middle seems to work out. When studying the scriptures, I find many answers to my prayers and they help me to make it through some tough times in life. I also enjoy studying the words of our latter day prophets. As we continue to study, pray, and live the principles of the gospel, we become closer to and more like our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Katie
Yes! :) The Bible is the bedrock of all of Christianity. It is filled with history, doctrine, stories, sermons and testimonies. Most of all, it provides us with an account of the Savior's life and ministry. The Bible contains MANY precious truths. We do have additional scripture, including the Book of Mormon, which is another witness of the Bible and another Testament of Jesus Christ. Just as in Biblical times, God continues to give revelation to His people today. Show more Show less
