Hi I'm Lisa

I grew up in the sun in Phoenix, AZ. I am an Army wife. I'm a mom. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Phoenix, Arizona. I love the sun and being anywhere near water. I grew up boating, wakeboarding, waterskiing, swimming, cliff jumping and going to waterparks. I have a million freckles to prove it. Growing up I also loved playing softball, playing the piano, running track, and playing volleyball. While working for the YMCA afterschool program, I found another love-kids! Because of this, I taught 1st grade and 3rd grade before having children of my own. Now I'm a mom and an Army wife. I absolutely love being a mom. It is the hardest, most challenging job I've ever had. It is also by far the most rewarding. My two girls are amazing and show me constantly what it means to be a family. Being an Army wife is also challenging. My husband is gone a lot. He works long hours. But the Army community is amazing. It has taught me what it means to belong to something and how important small acts of kindness are. My heart fills with pride whenever I see the American flag, a cannon or a soldier in uniform. Since my husband joined the Army, I've lived in Oklahoma, Hawaii, Oklahoma (again) and Washington state. Moving around has been an adventure. I honestly love seeing more of the country. I love the different cultures we've encountered and the many people we have met along our way. With each move, our network of family expands and it is a great blessing for our family.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it feels good and it feels right. I feel good when I live the principles of the gospel of Jesus Christ as outlined in the Bible and the Book of Mormon and by latter-day prophets of God. I feel right with God when I follow these principles of Jesus Christ. The gospel makes sense to me. I love the knowledge the gospel has given me of a loving Heavenly Father. I love the knowledge that I am a child of God and that I have a purpose here on earth. I love that the gospel allows me to choose for myself and gain knowledge as I listen to the Holy Ghost. I have gained a testimony that because I have married my husband in the temple that I will be able to be married to him for time and for all eternity. I know that this also means that I will have my children as mine for time and all eternity. To me this is the greatest blessing of the gospel and this is why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I feel that my faith is who I am. Therefore I try to live my faith in all aspects of my life. I try to follow Jesus Christ and often ask myself what he would do. I am kind. I do nice things for others. I am compassionate. I am a good friend. I smile. I also am involved. I am involved in the Army community with the family readiness group. I take my kids to activities and volunteer at their schools. I coach the youth in a volleyball league each year. I help plan activities for the women of our congregation each month. I also am a good mom. I try to teach my kids how to be good people. I try to teach them how to live their lives as people of faith. If I can do that, then I am living my faith.
