Hi I'm Kathi

I'm a teacher, I play in the rain, and I love being a Mormon!!

About Me

Most people say I'm crazy, and silly, and loud, and fun. They're right! I believe life is supposed to be fun so I strive to make it that way. I do anything and everything to keep myself busy and hopefully help those around me. I have taught 6th grade, served a mission in Florida, and want to travel the world. I speak Spanish (Portuguese is next on the list) and I love the Latin culture! I love to cook and try out new recipes just to see that satisfied "this is delicious" look from others. Some say I am courageous and adventurous, I say I'm just trying and keep life interesting. When it rains my inner 5 year old comes out, I'll never be too old for puddle jumping! I'm the oldest of six, LOVE the water, and hate to be cold. I'm happiest when those around me are happy!!

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up, church was a huge part of my family's life. If we weren't at the church for an activity, we were at home preparing for one. My parents always had responsibilities that kept our family very active in the church. As I entered high school I also had responsibilities in our church's youth group. I've always been thankful for the church in my life but never completely understood it. Throughout my youth I began to understand more through church classes and scripture study. Then one day it just all clicked. I didn't have a 'lightning strike' experience like some others describe. I didn't hear a voice or see a sign. I was going about my normal day and I just realized that the church is true. The principles of the gospel I had been studying just made sense. And that was enough for me. I began to understand my Heavenly Father and that he loves me. I know that I am His daughter and I have a purpose here. I am a Mormon because it makes me happy!!!! I know that this is God's true church and the only way for me to gain the knowledge and experience I need to feel comfortable living with my Heavenly Father again.

How I live my faith

Life as a Mormon is not as strange as it's made out to be. I teach school, spend time with my family, and try to contribute to the community. Of course I try to live a clean lifestyle avoiding drugs and alcohol, and I don't participate in violent or suggestive forms of media. I choose to dress modestly, watch TV and movies that are clean and leave me happy. Sometimes it is difficult but I try to avoid foul language and suggestive lyrics in my music. I start and end each day with a prayer, and try to spend 20 minutes studying the scriptures each day. My life is happy, fun filled, and busy!! I am constantly doing something for church. Members of the church are all like family to me - after all we are ALL brothers and sisters. I spend my time giving service to those around me, preparing for upcoming activities, and visiting members of our congregation. I also volunteer my time helping with the high school play and other events in the community. Life is busy but very rewarding, and I wouldn't have it any other way!

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Kathi
I believe that we can pray to God our Heavenly Father and He will bless us with the knowledge we receive. If you want to know if Mormonism is the true Church of Jesus Christ, then all you have to do is have a sincere desire and pray to know for yourself. It's that simple! Show more Show less
