Hi I'm Mark Gardner

I am blessed to be a Mormon

About Me

I am happily married to a wonderful wife. She is a great example of service. She is a great friend. Together we have four children. Are they wonderful? Yes, most of the time. They are children and I know I never challenged my parents!!! I currently have one home from a mission and two in High School. I love them very much! I love woodworking and have owned my own business in the past. Currently, I work for a major Aerospace company. I have recently taken up racquetball and some bicycling (road and mountain). I have an AA, BS, and an MS degree.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a fourth generation member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This is the proper name of our Church, although we are often referred to as "Mormons." Even though I grew up with the church, I still had to find out for myself if this was true. I did this before I left to serve as a missionary for the Church. I could not go out and tell someone else this is true, if I did not know it for myself. I read the Book of Mormon and prayed to now of its truthfulness. I received an answer by the Holy Ghost that I knew it was true. My missionary service was a testimony builder of my faith and it has been a foundation in my life since. Christ's Church from when He was on the earth has been restored. I know Joseph Smith was a prophet chosen of God to restore this authority that was taken from the earth many years after Christ died. Joseph Smith was visited by Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, he had that visitation. He knew it and he knew God knew it and he could not deny it, ever. I know for myself Joseph Smith was a prophet and am very grateful for his life. Without his sacrifice we would not have the Book of Mormon or the Priesthood authority of Jesus Christ back on the earth today. I know Christ is a living resurrected being who loves and knows us personally. He and our Heavenly Father are concerned about our lives here on earth and desire us each to return to live with them again. Yes, live with them again. We did live in their presence before this earth life. I am very thankful and touched by my Savior's love for me individually. I know He died for me that I might be resurrected and He suffered in Gethsemane for me personally that if I repent and do the very best I can, I can be saved in His presence after death and judgment. I am not perfect, but I know I can be through Christ's grace and His death and suffering. The things above are my testimony and the reason why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I currently serve in the church helping fellow members and widows in my ward (congregation). I visit assigned members of our ward each month to teach and help support any of their needs. This is called Home Teaching. I find reading the scriptures and praying daily on a personal level helps my day. In addition, reading the scriptures and praying daily with my family strengthens us as a family. I attend the Temple, a sacred place where I have made covenants with Heavenly Father. This is a place to do saving ordinances for and in behalf of those who have not had the opportunity to have their saving work done (see 1 Corinthians 15). Baptism is essential to returning to God and must be done. The Savior set the baptismal example for us, even though he was perfect. This service to those who have not had the opportunity is one that brings great peace. The Temple is not a secret, but is sacred and all are invited, if they meet the worthiness criteria to enter. I love my faith and enjoy many blessings by doing so. This includes the ten commandments and following the Savior to the best of my ability.
