Hi I'm Brandon Casper

I'm a military child. I'm a singer. I'm a student. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Utah, but didn't live there for very long! My dad moved around a lot while he was going to school, and then when I was 7 he joined the Air Force. This led to 10 years of constant relocation to amazing places all over the world. I have a lot of interests ranging from music to sports to hanging out with friends to learning (sounds weird right? I love to learn!) I love to sing because of the powerful influence that it has on people. Music has changed my life and helped me remain close to the Lord. I dropped out of high school after my sophomore year and spent the next year watching Netflix and helping my mom, who was battling breast cancer. I felt prompted to take the ACT and apply to BYU, so I did and was accepted! I moved out to go to school in 2015 and loved it! I received my mission call in June and will be putting everything aside to go serve the Lord and bring the gospel to the amazing people living in the California Bakersfield Mission. I'm excited to give back to the Lord, for I owe Him each breath that I breathe. My friends mean more to me than anything. I love people and love making new friends. I've learned how important it is to have somebody to fall back on and to have somebody that you can help when they need it. We can't make it through life without each other. "Thee lift me, and I'll lift thee, and we'll ascend together."

Why I am a Mormon

I guess technically I'm a Mormon because I was born into the church. But I can only go so long off of other people telling me that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the only true and living church on earth for so long before I need to know it for myself. Alma 32:27 says to "experiment upon my words, and exercise a particle of faith, yea, even if ye can no more than desire to believe, let this desire work in you, even until ye believe in a manner that ye can give place for a portion of my words." That's what I did. I put the doctrines and teachings of the church to the test. I tried doing everything the Church said I should, and I tried ignoring the Church's teachings. When I ignored the commandments I found myself confused, lost, sad more often, easily angered, falling into addiction, etc. Then I turned to the Church and everything cleared up and I found the light I didn't know I was missing out on. Since then I've clung to the gospel because I KNOW that it's true. I'm not just a Mormon on Sundays, I'm a Mormon all day, every day, for the rest of my life. It has changed me so much for the better and I'm still trying to do better. Without the knowledge I have I can't imagine where I would be..but why imagine that? I have everything I need right where I stand. The Book of Mormon is true and compliments the Bible. Together they are the Word of God, along with the Doctrine & Covenants and the Pearl of Great Price. I know that Thomas S. Monson has been called of God to lead this Church through the perils of this time and prepare us for the Second Coming of our Saviour, Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

The Gospel of Jesus Christ isn't something that we should only remember on Sundays while at church. It's a lifestyle. It may seem difficult to keep the commandments at times, but life was never meant to be easy. In fact, when I'm constantly doing my best to read my scriptures, pray, and repent of my mistakes daily, the storms of life become easier to weather because I have my Father in Heaven and His Son right by my side. My favourite line in the hymn 'Secret Prayer' is in verse 3: "When sailing on life's stormy sea, 'Mid billows of despair, 'Tis solace to my soul to know God hears my secret prayer." Friendship is the code I live by. I try to love everyone no matter what the situation is. I will do anything and everything to make someone smile and feel at home. I think it's pointless and wrong to get frustrated or angry at someone because I make mistakes too and I would want someone to help me, not get frustrated with me. Nobody's life will ever be easy all the time, so I never judge and do my best to help someone when they need it.
