Hi I'm Brandon

I grew up in a tiny town in Idaho. I love to play golf, Ultimate Frisbee, and board games. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I moved three times before I was four years old and ended up in a super small town in Idaho (just over 50 in my graduating class). I am the middle child of 3. I love spending time with my family especially playing board games and golf. After high school I went to college for a year in Utah and am studying to become a Mechanical Engineer. There I found a love for Ultimate Frisbee and I even played on a Intermurals team at the university. I like music and can play the piano and guitar (acoustic). I also love to draw/paint, write, read, and watch movies with my family and friends. I then took a break from school and moved to Texas and shared about the Church and how it has blessed me in my life as a missionary. There I learned to speak Spanish as a second language. I am once again at school and enjoying it even though it is a ton of work.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because the Church has giving me hope and knowledge. I really cannot imagine a life without the hope for a better life, the knowledge that there is someone that loves me and is watching out for me and that He wants me to be happy. The knowledge that I have a Redeemer, someone that loves me enough to do what He did so that I could find happiness and live with my family forever gives me such a joy and light and a reason to press through the trials and hard times in my life, push through the low times because I know that there will be a dawn and it will be a brighter day. I have seen how he has blessed my life and saved me from the evil that is in the world and given my energy focus and direction. It is like having a map to show me the way to be happy, the way to find joy with my family and a way to have a family and raise the children I hope to have, knowing that they too can be happy. The Church has really given me purpose, explained to me my purpose in life and I believe help me to find that feeling of accoplishment. It has helped me come closer to my Savior and see first hand how He has touched my life and saved me from my imperfections and mistakes. I feel that it has helped me improve those imperfections and given me a hope that one day I can become That Man that I want to be. I love it, every meeting, every activity, even every rule. It is my safeguard, my map, my guide. I cannot imagine life without it.

How I live my faith

It is often hard to find a balance with school, dating, personal time, and spiritual time, especially in my field of study. It often comes down to a simple but at times difficult decision to be consistent. By devoting a little time each day to studying the scriptures along with my school studies, it helps me keep the Spirit of God with me throughout my day. Also just helping out where I can, being kind and positive as I interact with others, as I feel Jesus would do are ways that I live my faith. Often in college we are faced with the new experience of being on our own, making our own rules. Staying true to the commandments of God, no matter what other people think or do is an important aspect for me. Things like pre-marital sexual activity and drug/alcohol abuse are often problems for people my age and something that I have determined to avoid. Keeping the commandments of God are more important than social norms and will always bring peace of mind and true joy.
