Hi I'm Ryan Skousen

I'm a pilot, I'm an extreme sport junkie, I'm a student, I'm a brother, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Ryan and I'm 21 years old. Like most young adults, I enjoy staying active and spending time with friends. Many of my favorite activities are extreme sports such as skiing, wakeboarding, biking and mountain climbing. In the winter most of my time is spent sking in the mountains or in school. I love the exhilieration that skiing brings as well as the feeling of accomplishment that comes with improvement. I also love to fly airplanes. I am a private pilot and nothing compares to the thrill and excitement that comes with flying small aircraft. Learning is a lifelong activity that I have come to love. I enjoy many subjects in school and I also like to learn new practical skills. I am greatful that my parents have taught me from a young age how to do many things. This has given me an understanding of the importance of knowledge. I have ambitions to be able to one day start my own buisiness so that I can contribute somthing important to the world and be able to support my family. Family is very important to me. They are the center of much of the happiness that I experience in my life. Activities with my family are common place in my life. I also hope to someday have a family of my own.

Why I am a Mormon

My family members are all members in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints or "Mormrons". As I have grown up they have taught me about the beliefs of the Church. As I apply the principles that I was taught I have found that they make me the happiest person I can be. I do not find the beliefs restricting but rather helpful so that I can live a productive happy life. For me, application of correct principles has brought about happiness and a stronger belief in the teachings of Jesus Christ and the truthfulness of those teachings.

How I live my faith

The Church gives me purpose in my life and helps me to know how I should live so I can be a good person. It has taught me good morals and character. I try as best as I can to live the principles that are taught in the Church. As I live my life in closer harmony of the teachings of Jesus Christ I find myself happier and more successful in my activities. I know that the things the Church teaches that we should or should not do are to help me live a happier more productive life and be able to be worthy of blessings that come from that obedience. I use the teachings as a model that I pattern my life after so that I can reach my full potential.

Why is authority to perform a baptism important?

Ryan Skousen
When you drive down the road, you do not pull your car over and let a fireman give you a speeding ticket, but only a police man. The reason is that the police man has the authority to issue the ticket while the fireman does not. This same principle applies in the ordinances that are required to make it back to heaven. When we are baptized, the action needs to be done by someone with the authority of God for that baptism to be recognized in heaven. Show more Show less
