Hi I'm Jeff

Love to have fun and enjoy life! I love to try new things and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Growing up as the youngest in a family of 10 kids, I was exposed to the varied interests of my older siblings. I learned to appreciate something about everything. Whether I am surfing, snowboarding, reading, playing guitar, eating or anything I try to savor life and enjoy each moment. Sometimes the tough times are hard to enjoy but they help remind me of the sweetness of the happy times I have and will continue to have. I am a new-ish husband and am constantly learning how to communicate better and be more considerate of my partner. For work I am a business analyst with an economics degree and experience living in Taiwan and speaking Mandarin.

Why I am a Mormon

I cannot remember the first contact I had with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and its members. I was too young. I grew up in a loving and supportive home. Nearing my eighth birthday I do remember when my mother asked me if I would like to be baptized. The choice was obvious for me and it felt right to say, "Yes." I remember the day of my baptism and the feelings of reassurance and comfort that one often feels after making a good choice. Since that time I have experienced similar feelings when learning about Joseph Smith, when hearing the teachings of current Church leaders and when reading the words of Christ in sacred records. I believe those feelings come from God and specifically his messenger the Holy Ghost. I also remember at times considering apparent logical flaws or gaps in what I learned at Church. Those experiences and feelings from the Holy Ghost give me a reassurance that I will learn the answers to my questions eventually and that those answers will be satisfactory. Those emotional/spiritual experiences also help me know that while there are unanswered questions, I can trust in God and Jesus Christ. They know the truth of all things and they know and want what is best for me. I can trust in the wisdom I have received from their messengers. Without fail, as I have pressed onward in learning and life through questions and difficulties, I have always received answers discovered spiritually and connect what I was thought was a gap in logic. As I have relied on faith and trust in the things I feel, that faith and trust has provided a sturdy bridge to get to the metaphoric destination, whether it be happier times or a rational understanding of the doctrines of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

In my local ward I currently serve as an administrative assistant for the Sunday school. That means I substitute for teachers when needed and give support to the teachers as needed. Primarily my delegated responsibilities have been with the youth (12-18 year olds) classes. Every month I get to visit a few families around town and see how they are doing. I get to offer service to them and prepare a brief message designed to uplift them. I am essentially on-call if they need anything. They always have someone to turn to in need.
