Hi I'm Ken

I am a husband and father, and love being a Mormon.

About Me

Born and raised in Southern California, but eventually moved to Arizona after going away to college. I love to play volleyball and want to get back into running. I have run 3 marathons in the past, and would like my family to see me run at least 1 more.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was a kid, my parents took me to church. We went to several Protestant churches in our home town always trying to find one we liked. As I grew up, I would start to have questions about religion my parents couldn't quite answer, and by then, church mainly became a Christmas and Easter tradition. Then as I got older, we stopped going to church altogether. Two things have always remained constant since I was a kid however. I always wanted to get married and have children, and I always wanted my kids raised in church. I never imagined it would be the Mormon Church. I even remember telling my parents I had no thoughts about joining this church even after I found and married the perfect wife who is LDS. We both got serious about raising the best children possible, which included taking them to church. My wife, knowing I was not a member of the church even suggested I find a church I was comfortable with and that we could even take them to two different churches and rotate every other week. I had been to a couple of different churches in the valley but never really found one I liked. I started going to the LDS church with my wife in support for our children to make sure we were raising our children with morals and beliefs. I started going more and more to the LDS church, and to my surprise, I started having my questions answered, even those I had as a kid. I began to really enjoy going to church, something I didn't like as a kid. And the times I didn't go to church, I felt like I was missing something in my life. That was when I knew that this was the right church for me and my family. Joining the church has been one of the best decisions I have ever made and has been a huge blessing in my life.

How I live my faith

Every other week I get to prepare a lesson and teach the youth about Jesus. This year has been a blast teaching the kids all about the life and ministry of Jesus Christ. At home, I get to also help teach our kids about the gospel of Jesus Christ. I particularly enjoy family home evenings, where we get to spend time as a family. This is one of my favorite things I enjoy doing, which helps to bring us closer as a family.
