Hi I'm Janelle

I'm a Mormon. I grew up in California and am now graduated from college and living in paradise.

About Me

I grew up in California and got a degree in Political Science and a minor in Spanish while in college. I am married and have a daughter. I think I am a fish at heart because I love the ocean. I love to star gaze and relax when I can, but I am also like many other people and have to work every day during the week. I love work though. Hobbies of mine include eating, cooking, being lazy, singing, and dancing. I enjoy life :)

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the gospel but I have chosen to continue living this way because I have found that living by the gospel makes me happy. It keeps me from many unneeded trials and tribulations. I have found equality, educational opportunities, and intellect through my experiences with members and with choosing to live according to the church's standards. I have found that I know my place, why I am here, where I am going, and much more. I have seen that trials are a good thing, and the gospel helps you to deal with any problems that come along, or at least help you to understand why things happen. I am not saying that following the principles is always the easies, but I am saying that it is the most rewarding when you see the joy and love you gain through it.

How I live my faith

I visit other women in my church and teach every month. I attend meetings every Sunday. I bring meals to people in need. I serve in church callings, whether it be coordinating events or doing small tasks. I have helped make modest proms, sang in church, and did much more.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Janelle
Simply put, no. The church strongly advises young men around age 19 to serve a mission. Women are also allowed to serve a mission at age 21 if they choose to do so, but it is not a requirement. I know many young men and women who have served. They have grown and matured tremendously in such a short time and it is easy to see that they have been blessed for serving for 18-24 months. It is a sacrifice to serve a mission because you must leave home, but there are so many blessings that missionaries receive that there is not room enough to receive it. Show more Show less
