Hi I'm Creytn

I grew up in Texas. I love to act on stage, listen and play music, and spend time with my family. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love the arts. Music and theatre are definitely my passions. I've acted since I was in middle school and love to be on the stage. One of my favorite feelings is performing a new and exciting character and connecting with a live audience. For music, I love all sorts of music, and I play the cello in a string orchestra started by my parents! I like playing and watching baseball. I was studying at Brigham Young University in Utah and I'm currently on a two-year mission for the Church in Scotland and Ireland!

Why I am a Mormon

Although I was born into a Mormon family, I most definitely had to choose to believe in what I was being taught. When I really worked to follow the standards I had been taught, and when I read the scriptures sincerely, a peace came into my life that I had never had before. I felt the burning love that my savior Jesus Christ had for me, and I knew that he loved me dearly and that he is constantly there waiting to bless me. I knew and know that he knows who I am, knows my name, my likes, my dislikes, my passions, my goals, my talents, and I know that he has a plan for me to serve him in this life by serving those around me. That's why I chose to serve a mission. That's why I chose to live my faith. That's why I'm happy. That's why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Being Mormon is not an easy thing. Mormons are often considered different, peculiar, or downright weird because of the beliefs we have and the standards we uphold. I live my faith each and every day. While in High School, I would wake up before the sun rose each morning for 4 years and went to church for a seminary class in which I learned more about The Book of Mormon and The Bible. I do not smoke or drink, and always try to listen to good music. I had a calling in college to teach a Sunday School class, so each week I got to prepare a lesson from the New Testament to teach to the other college age students there! I pay 10% of my income for tithing, and I try to read the scriptures every day. One of the biggest ways I live my faith is by serving a mission! A mission is two years where we go and teach people about Jesus Christ and this church. The mission I'm in covers Scotland and Ireland, and I've loved telling people here about my beliefs. Because of all these commitments, I feel closer to my savior and redeemer and that helps me in every facet of my life.

Why do Mormons perform baptisms for the dead?

We believe that everyone should follow Christ's example and be baptized. Because of the time they lived in or the people they knew, many people did not get the chance to follow Christ's example and get baptized. They did not get to cleanse themselves from sin and signal that they were now a follower of Christ. Because God loves all of His children, He has allowed us to go into the temple, and baptize the spirits of those who have already died through the power of the priesthood. Because these sons and daughters no longer have their bodies, we take someone else, and baptize them in behalf of the dead soul, helping them to come closer to Christ and eternal life.
