Hi I'm Chris

I grew up in a small farming community. I am a team roper, horseman, financial planner, father and husband and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Chris and I love my wife, my two little boys, my little girl on the way, my horses and team roping. I love spending time with my family. They are my best friends. It wasn't always that way! My wife and I are both stubborn but have learned to love and appreciate each other and are happier than we have ever been. Recently I have developed an interest for genealogy and am really enjoying it. I am an 8th generation native of Arizona and my wife is 7th. Our ancestors basically settled Arizona. Needless to say we are some of the oldest families in Arizona and we love it here. For most of those generations my family has farmed, ranched and or rodeoed. We love the cowboy way of life. It's funny because I am known as the cowboy that does financial planning. Kind of an odd mixture. In my spare time, I really enjoy working with and developing young horses into performance roping horses. My two boys are 2 and 4 and are learning to rope and ride. My wife is a nurse and works one day a week but mostly stays home with the boys. She is amazing.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that Jesus Christ lives and he loves us today and continues to speak to us through modern day prophets just as he did in the times of the Bible. I am eternally grateful that Joseph Smith had the courage to seek out the truth and withstood so many trials and challenges so that Heavenly Father could use him as an instrument in restoring the gospel in its fullness back to the earth. I'm also a Mormon because of the faith, courage and amazing sacrifice of the early pioneers of the church who forsook and risked everything to follow the gospel and move west to Utah. Most of all, I am a Mormon because of eternal families. Through the temples families can be married for time and all eternity. As previously stated, my wife and I have had challenges in our marriage. At one point we were separated and seriously considering getting divorced. We had two little boys at the time. If it wasn't for the blessings of the temple and knowing that I had made a promise to Heavenly Father and my wife that we would be together forever, we wouldn't be married today. However, because of the love of the Savior Jesus Christ, amazing church leaders, an eternal perspective and the most amazing, loving wife in the world we are happier today than we have ever been. I can honestly say that my wife is my best friend. I am so grateful for my wife and two little boys and a little girl on the way. Families are the central focus of being a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I try and live my faith by first being the best husband and father to my wife and children that I know how. I'm not very good at it but I try and be a Christ like example to them. I am a Home Teacher which means I and another gentleman have been assigned two families that we visit at least once a month in their home to deliver a spiritual message and check on the needs of the families and offer assistance in any way possible. I also have a responsibility called a Home Teaching District Leader in which I oversee and help 4 pairs of men who do the same. Also, I am a substitute teacher for primary aged (3 - 11) children. Again, family is very important in the Mormon culture. As such, I try and live my faith by doing my genealogy to pay respect to my ancestors so I can teach my children the sacrifices they made so we can be here today.

Are Mormons Christians?

Chris
Mormon's are as Christian as they come. We know Jesus Christ is our personal Savior and through his eternal sacrifice of giving his life for our sins we can one day return live with our Heavenly Father and families again. Everything in our church symbolizes the life and mission of Jesus Christ. The Book of Mormon is a companion to the Bible and is another testament to Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ still speaks to us today through Prophets and Apostles just as he did in ancient times. Show more Show less
