Hi I'm Janette.

I’m a mother of five, an author,a walking enthusiast,a reluctant house-cleaner,and the keeper of too many stray cat. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Although you wouldn’t know it by the number of children I have—five—my husband and I struggled with infertility for years. Maybe that’s why I’ll always think that being a mom is the best and most important job in the world. I love being with my family! They make me laugh and bring me joy. Years ago, my husband and I tried to adopt a little girl in a Russian orphanage. Unfortunately, the adoption fell through right before we went to Russia. Still, I have a special place in my heart for the underprivileged children of the world and our family has been involved in several programs that help orphanages. I also love to write and I’m an author of over a dozen young adult novels. I write the kind of books my daughters like to read: fun, G-rated books, with a little romance thrown in. I hope kids can sense from them my optimism, sense of humor, and belief that when people love one another the world becomes a better place.

Why I am a Mormon

I belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because the church has taught me truths and directed me to keep the commandments so that I could live a happy life. Just as our physical bodies need to be fed every day, our spirits need to be nurtured and fed too. Reading the scriptures, going to church, and listening to the words of modern prophets does that for me. I’m glad to live in a time and place where I have access to such a bountiful feast!

How I live my faith

I live my religion by trying to remember that we’re all God’s children, brothers and sisters who walk together on this earth. Even though we make mistakes, each one of us has infinite value and worth. We need to help, serve, and forgive one another, just as our Savior Jesus Christ has done. I’m not perfect, but God remembers me and helps me through my trials, large and small. I know he knows me personally. I am so thankful for all of his blessings, especially for this church.
