Hi I'm Mariah

I'm a stay at home mom. I grew up in Spokane. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a 49ers football fan. I love to play in the backyard with me kids. I enjoy sewing, canning, doing home improvement projects, reading and eating chocolate. I am interested in US History, specifially WWII, and the Pioneer era, as well as local history. I enjoy learning about my family history as well. I like to share the things that I have learned with my family (they do not always enjoy this). I am involved in Neighborhood Watch and our HOA. I try to keep up with current affairs. I recently went on a ride along with our local Sheriff's Dept. I would love to learn to make stained glass windows. I would also love to learn how to weld and make wind sculptures. These are both goals of mine when my children are older. Before I had children I worked as a Phlebotomist. I loved my job especially the patients that I was able to serve. I enjoyed the science and helping people. I went to school to learn Architectural Drafting and still enjoy using my drafting skills. When we are working on projects around the house, I often alter existing plans or draw up new ones. I have an artistic mind. I enjoy creating and decorating. My biggest vice is reading. I read voraciously. I read everything from biographies, to sci-fi, to fantasy, to romance, to history, to folk-lore.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a mormon family. I was raised in this religion. As I was growing up I learned to love and rely on the Lord. I see the blessings in my life that come from following the commandments. As a youth I developed friendships with wonderful people of other faiths who taught me that you don't have to believe the same to respect each other. I am lucky enough to have always had their support in my life. In my 20's I made the decision to grow closer to my Savior. When times were tough I gained a testimony of the love that he has for me. He blessed me with the friendships and people that I needed to grow and become the person that I want to be. Everyday I see the blessing in my life that come from living his Gospel. I will always be thankful for the love and guidance he gives me.

How I live my faith

My husband is not a member of the church. Although he supports me in my efforts to attend church and raise our children in this faith, it is sometimes hard. I try very hard to teach my children what I believe, and also to teach my husband. I have been asked to serve in the Primary Organization. We are involved in the Sunday School program for the children between 18 mo and 12 yrs. I have a strong love for these amazing children and hope that they can feel that. I enjoy the fellowship that I get at church on Sunday and at Ward (congregation) activities. More importantly that that. I love feeling that I am growing closer to my Savior and pray that I can help others do the same. I don't live this religion because I have to, but because it is right. I strongly believe that being Mormon is not just about attending church on Sunday mornings. I try to live my life everyday in a way that is in accordance with my beliefs.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

The biggest thing in my life that testifies to me of God is my children. Some people may look upon the birth and life of a child as an everyday occurance, but I see it as a miracle. I also see the glory of our earth as a testimony of God. I do not believe that this glorious world that we life in happened by chance. Show more Show less
