Hi I'm Brian

I grew up in Colorado. I'm a writer and humorist. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a writer. I love language, reading and writing. The first time I ever wanted to write was after watching an episode of the Simpsons, of all things. I remember thinking that telling a story and making people laugh at the same time seemed like the best thing in the world. I still think that. That's why I write and read. I'm a husband and a dad. I have a three month old baby and she is the best part of my day. I love watching her learn and develop. She is so smart.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the LDS church when I was a teenager. My best friend was a member, and it seemed like one by one my family kept getting baptized. Joining as a teenager wasn't easy. I was surprised when even my good friends thought I was weird. I was so excited by the missionaries message, that I didn't realize that people changed the way they looked at me. I didn't become a Mormon to gain friends or to change who I was. I am a Mormon because I'm so grateful for all that Jesus Christ has done for me. I come to church to learn of our Savior and to keep my life focused on him.

How I live my faith

I teach a Sunday school class to 12-14 year old boys, and I'm also an assistant scout master. These two jobs often go hand in hand because learning to love the Lord helps one to learn to love and respect one's self. Learning the gospel principle of obedience goes hand in hand with learning to become a leader. Service is a cornerstone of living my faith. I donate my time and energy to the young men of our church, teaching them to devote themselves to others.
