Hi I'm Dawn

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the mother of 5 beautiful children. I had struggles conceiving after my first; it took 5 years to have another one. It took 6 years to have the third, and at the first appointment, they discovered a lump on my thyroid. It was thyroid cancer. I had my baby, then had surgery 8 weeks later. My husband and I met in September of '91, and married in January of '92. We're still together (20 years!!!) and love each other more each day. I am a lover of books and music; I play piano (though not as well as I want) and would love to learn the cello someday.

Why I am a Mormon

The peace that I feel when I live the Gospel principles is the reason I'm a Mormon. My trust in my Heavenly Father helps me through the tough times. I know that He lives, and I know that my Savior is Jesus Christ. I bear testimony that it was His sacrifice in the Garden of Gethsemane that makes it possible for my sins to be forgiven. It was faith that brought me through my cancer without fear, and it was faith that let me make the leap to marry a man I hardly knew. It is the knowledge that my Father in Heaven loves me that keeps me going at times when life feels the darkest.

How I live my faith

I have served in mostly music callings. I LOVE that! My favorite calling of all was teaching music to primary kids. (Age 3-12) Hearing their voices raised in song was testimony building for me; and as I taught them that the words of the songs meant something, it reaffirmed my own faith. I have directed the choir (with no training!), as well as the congregation on Sunday services. I have taught the young women of the church and loved it. I try to live my life in a way that my kids will never be able to say that I didn't believe. I may struggle with personal issues that affect the way I go to church, but I hope that by always speaking in scripture, looking to the Bible and Book of Mormon to answer questions, and going to the Lord in prayer with them when they have questions of their own, that they will always know that I love the Lord, and that I love being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
