Hi I'm Blanche

I live in South Carolina. I'm a Mother of nine, Grandmother of 12 1/2, cancer survivor and a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife, the Mother of nine wonderful children and grandmother to twelve and a half grandchildren. I love to garden, raise chickens, goats and dogs. This year I was diagnosed with stage four non-hodgkin lymphoma. My whole family was very worried about what this might mean for our family. We all fasted together and then I went for treatments. Now that I am on the otherside of the treatments I am more grateful for the gift that life is. I am more grateful for the life of my Savior and His great love for me. I enjoy my family, life and my trials more than I ever thought possible. The scriptures are the anchor in my uncertain life.

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up in the Seventies, I watched family members and friends choose to follow the trend of wild parties and drugs. There were several times I chose to wonder the streets of our little town rather than be exposed to that enviroment. I have always known that my Heavenly Father was watching me and the thought of disappionting Him was scary to me. I have always tried to be in Church on Sunday and continue to live the gospel of Jesus Christ. Staying close to the Church has been a source of security to me in my life as I have watched those I love choose not to follow and live the gospel. I believe that my life is happier because of those choices. I know I have a Father in Heaven, who loves me. I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior and has made it possible for me to progress and return to my Heavenly home. I know that Joseph Smith restored the Church of Jesus Christ to the earth again. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the Savior's church here on the earth today. I know that Jesus's Church is led by a living Prophet, even Thomas S. Monson. I know the Book of Mormon is the word of God. I know that Joseph Smith did in deed translate the book from Gold Plates.

How I live my faith

In the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints the members fill positions in the local church groups called Wards. There is no paid ministry in the Church. Since I was a teenager I've been blessed to serve in the Wards in which I've lived. It has greatly blessed my life to be able to serve in the Lord's Church. I have been able to teach the children in the Church for thirty years. I enjoy seeing their testimonies develope and grow. Serving in the Church has helped me to be a better mother and wife. During my chemotherepy treatments the habits of personal and family prayer, and personal and family scripture study sustained my family and brought great peace. My daughters were challenged by one teacher to read the Book of Mormon in one month. We took the challenge during this dificult time and it helped us to deal with the difficult trials.
