Hi I'm James

I'm a basketball player, I'm a brother, I'm a son, I'm an uncle, I'm a friend, I'm an Eagle Scout, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a Freshman at college. I enjoy driving and looking at the beauty that is all around us. I love playing basketball or doing any physical activities. I enjoy hanging out with my friends and my family. I love to meet new people. I love listening to stories that my grandmother tells me and hearing about her life and the experiences that she had. I love hearing about peoples lives and their challenges, their joys, their sorrows, their successes, their failures.

Why I am a Mormon

The gospel makes me happy. When I follow the teachings of the Savior Jesus Christ and when I am kind to those around me I can feel my Savior's love for me and for those around me. There is not a cooler, more humbling, or greater experience than to do the will of the Lord and to see Him move you in ways and directions that you never thought possible. Thats why I'm a "Mormon" thats why I live the gospel, because the Lord makes ordinary miraculous, He makes the weak strong, He makes the impossible possible, and He heals.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by going to church on sunday and by participating in the many church activities that go on in the church. I also try to help people whenever I see that I can do something that would make it easier on them. I try to be happy and see the good things that I have been blessed to have. I try to be a good person, someone that can help other people and help them enjoy the time that they spend with me.

What is faith?

James
Faith is the first principle and starting point for a person's journey to come closer to Jesus Christ. Faith is to believe in something and to hope that it is true. Faith should primarily be based on Jesus Christ and His atonemnet (Atonement: the sacrafice Jesus Christe performed while on earth that allows men/women to repent of sins). Faith is a principle that is based in action. Faith is shown when a person trusts God and does what is asked of him/her. Faith is developed through action and using one's agency (free choice) to choose what to do. As a person acts with faith that person sees the results of their faith manifested in the outcomes of their actions. Simply put in my mind faith is trusting God and His promises and letting that trust be shown in our actions by keeping His commandments and direction. Show more Show less

Why is family so important to Mormons?

James
The family is so important to Mormons because it is the central feature of the Heavenly Fathers plan for all of His children (All human beings that have lived, are living, or will ever live are His children). Families provide a place for the teachings of Jesus Christ to be taught, learned, and lived. Families provide a safe place for children that are coming into the world. Families are the place where we will feel our greatest happinesses and our deepest sorrows. Families are so important to Mormons because we believe that families will live with each other and with God for eternity. Show more Show less
