Hi I'm Phil Chesley

I build roads. I like to make short films. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've grown up in the American Southwest and have enjoyed all outdoor activities, especially spending time in the desert. My favorite memories are with my father taking time with us hiking, hunting, fishing and enjoying the "outdoors". I am a father and grandfather, I continue that tradition going on outings with my children and their families. I enjoy many hobbies but my favorite is taking pictures of the beautiful landscapes of our area and capturing people and their stories on video.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in a family that practiced the Mormon faith and until I became a young adult, I just accepted the practices and convictions of my parents and older siblings. As I became an adult I realized that there were many other paths that I could follow, I was always given my own free agency to decide to live the way I wanted to. I learned to apply the principles of the gospel of Jesus Christ for myself and found the peace and happiness that I knew growing up. I found that peace also in my own life and in the home that my wife and I established for our young family.

How I live my faith

I enjoy the opportunity I have every week to participate in the worship meetings, to fellowship with others in Sunday School and other activities. Quite often the men will organize activities to help paint the home of an elderly man or woman, participate in a food drive for a local pantry, or one of many public service oriented service projects. One of my favorite activities is an annual trip that the fathers and sons of our local congregation take to the cool mountains (a great retreat from the heat of the desert) and spend a weekend as father, sons and brothers and reflect upon the many great blessing that our Heavenly Father has shared with his children. I'm so thankful for the knowledge I have of my Heavenly Father and to be aware of all the many wonderful blessings he has shared with me and my family.
