Hi I'm Jackie Monson

I am a wife, mother and grandmother. I love to play tennis and go for walks. I love to read. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My most important job has always been being a mother. I have six children, and now 14 grandchildren. They are what life is all about! Even though raising six totally different children was often very challenging, the rewards have been amazing. I love spending time with them and their own families now. I also love to garden. Seeing plants come to life each spring never grows old. It's fun to be able to eat an entire meal from my garden. I also enjoy canning and freezing produce to use throughout the year. My favorite has to be raspberry freezer jam--what a treat! Growing older has been interesting. I miss having my kids home. I miss all the energy and pep I had when I was younger. But I still love being alive--taking walks and being outside, raking leaves, playing tennis when I can. The body is definitely getting older, but the spirit is still strong.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Mormon family so I grew up learning about Christ and His gospel. Everything I learned as a child I still know to be true today as an adult. I know the importance of families, and that we can be together forever. I know the importance of serving others and look for opportunities to serve every day. I know that Christ is my savior and strive to be like Him in all I do and say. I know that God hears and answers my prayers, and that He knows me by name. Life is full to tests and trials, but with the testimony I have of this gospel, I can face the future with hope and faith.

How I live my faith

I am a Sunday School teacher for kids 14 and 15 years old. We are currently studying the New Testament. It's challenging because they have such strong spirits and keen insights. I prepare the lessons each week with them in mind, and try to help them see how the scriptures still apply to us today. My faith is my whole life. Each day begins and ends with prayer, and I try to do what the Lord would want me to do each day. I'm grateful to have scriptures to strengthen my testimony and help me know the gospel.
