Hi I'm Geoff

I'm a Mormon.I grewup in Perth West Australia. I am a civil Engineer, husband, father of 4 and grandfather of 12 fabulous grandkids

About Me

As a child of Heavenly Father, I know I can do anything that is good and wothwhile, I graduated as a civil Engineer and spent 20 years supervising construction. Many of the high rise buildings, universities, industrial complexes etc.in Australia have been my responnsibility I also qualified and helped people as a Real estate agent. Growing up, I loved surfing and playing tennis. I was junior champ of my club nd won several tounaments. With my lovely wife of 55 years we have served two missions for the Church including the construction of a beautiful temple. The Gospel is the cement in our marriage and we look forward to spennding eternity together with our lovely kids and grandchildren

Why I am a Mormon

As a youth and young adult I was very active in our protestant church and had some wonderful friends. I guess I became somewhat disillusiond with our protestant faith because God was so unknowable and intangible. I didn't know to whom or to what I was praying. I could't seem to develop faith in something/someone I could not visualise. The three persons in one trinity concept was not making sense for me. I basically left the church and looked at other religions and set about 'enjoying' life. I married my lovely wife in 1956 and at her instigation, we listened to the Mormon missionaries. Their teachings were like a breath of fresh air and it all rang so true. I was so relieved and excited to know that I, like you, was a spirit child born to heavenly parents in a premortal life and that Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost were not one in substance but ONE in PURPOSE. I know that Jesus is my Saviour and redeemer and my advocate with the Father. I know that his great atoning sacrifice made it possible for me and my loved ones to be forgiven of our sins and if worthy , join him in my Father;s kindom after this mortal life. The Gospel principles are now the healing oil in our family relationships and our weekly Church meetings reinforce our commitments and renew our covenants with Heavenly Father. I never did feel comfortable about a priest having to be paid for preaching the gospel and was excited to learn that it is every man's(and woman's) priviledge to serve God.

How I live my faith

In our 55 years of Church membersip I have served (without pay as we all do) as a leader of a congregation, a youth leader, a teacher, a clerk, a counsellor,an adviser, a missionary, a Temple worker and patron, a Family History consultant and as a regular member. I am always a 'Home Teacher' and visit the homes of members of the Church monthly to bring a spiritual message and to care for the family in any way they might need. All worthy men are ordained to the Priesthood and serve as Home Teachers to three or four families. Likewise the women go two by two visiting members in their homes to succour and support the wife & mother in the home
