Hi I'm Mayra

I'm Puerto Rican, mother of 4 children and Love being a Mormon!

About Me

I AM A CONVERT TO THE CHURCH I grew up having faith in God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. When I was about 12yrs. old I began to feel emotional whenever I watched movies about Jesus Christ, when He died on the cross for the sins of all mankind. Then I would watched TV commercials about The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints, but never had the opportunity to meet any Missionary and even less to visit the Church. I was a minor and my family have a different religion which I liked very much. Then after I was about 15yrs old, one of my parents told me that I was not going to be re-united with my family after death. That we were going to be resurrected, but not be together again. Then I cried and cried, then I said it is not true, it ca not be true. I felt deep inside that it was wrong, it did not make sense. I always opened my heart when praying. I had faith but little by little I became inactive at the church I used to go, because I had a lot of questions. I felt empty for years, I felt I needed something more. And that was the beginnig of seeking and investagating different religions until God gave me the opportunity to accept the Missionaries..........

Why I am a Mormon

I AM PROUD TO BE A MORMON One day while watching TV I saw a commercial about a Free Video called the Lam Of God from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I only cared about the video specially, because it was around Easter and I have a great Love for the Lord. The missionaries called and asked me if I wanted them to bring me the video and I said, "yes" but I what I wanted was my Free Video. When they came to visit they asked if I was willing to hear a message I agreed and I felt good. But told them I was not ready to go to church and that I did not have the time for visits, because I used to work and had a family to take care of. Then they also gave me a Book of Mormon. Not having time was just an excuse. A few months after I felt the need to read the Book of Mormon and it became a habit then I decided to invite the Elders again. When they came back I was honest and told them I felt something special. They continued to visit me and one day we were invited to the Church and we went. I liked the Doctrine, The Church, the members everything was too good to be true. I ____________________________________________ Then the Elders asked me if I wanted to be baptize and challenged me to pray and ask Heavenly Father if I should, If the Book of Mormon and the Church were true. So, I did with one question at the time. It was the beginning of a life changing experience, God had answered my prayers in a unique special way that I will never ever forget. I knew then and know that the Book of Mormon and the Church are true, that Jesus is the Christ and lives, that God does answer prayers at his own time... but He does. I was finally baptized by the proper authority. I had questions that were answered, but this time the Holly Ghost helped me to learned, understand. I Thank God for the Gospel.....

How I live my faith

I'm active at the Church I teach the little children. I also learn from them, because they have taught me to be more patient, and to Love them. I Love them and think of them as my children they are special to me. specially after they get older and move on to a different class. There is one very special girl that used to be in my class. She comes to see me at the classroom from time to time and It motivates me to be a better teacher. I'm into Genealogy, it is great it brings my joy to knowing about my family and my ancestors. I feel a great love for them even for those I recently met by gathering information as well as for those that have past. I Love My Family! And now I know we can be together for ever through Heavenly Father’s Plan.

In whom should we have faith?

Mayra
We should have faith in God the Eternal Father and be willing to act on your belief in Him. We must develop faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. The Apostle Peter taught that "there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved" (Acts 4:12). We also should have faith in the Holy Ghost. Show more Show less
