Hi I'm Mark Melville

I'm a retired Air Force officer, a former T-38 and KC-135 pilot. Currently I teach Military and Strategic Studies. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I was born at Landstuhl Army hospital in Germany the son of an Air Force pilot and a school teacher in the American school on base. I grew up in many places as my father was stationed all over the US and Italy. I went to the US Air Force Academy and graduated in 1983. From there I became a T-38 Instructor pilot and then a KC-135 pilot. My wife and I have lived in ten different places as the Air Force moves us all over the world as well. I retired from the Air Force in the winter of 2010 and now live in Monument CO. I voluntarily teach Military and Strategic Studies at the Air Force Academy. My wife and I have four children and our second child is serving a mission in Austria.

Why I am a Mormon

I love the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ and do my best to follow the example of my Savior. I find the doctrines of the Gospel give me direction in my life and as a father to better lead my family and especially my children. I love the peaceful assurance I get from prayer and reading the scriptures, especially the Book of Mormon. I love how it teaches about Jesus and his atoning sacrifice for me. I find great comfort to know that the Church is lead by a prophet who receives revelation and guidance from God.

How I live my faith

In my congregation i teach an early morning scripture study for high school age kids. I am currently teaching from the Old Testament and love the way the Old Testament teaches about the coming of the Messiah whom I believe was Jesus Christ.
