Hi I'm Ben

I write music and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am first a husband and father - and I love my job. Aside from that, I write music. I've composed for everything from solo bass to orchestra, jazz big band to choir. Sometime my kids help me write music (but most of the time those two activities are separate!) In addition to everything musical, I also enjoy biking, ultimate frisbee, cooking, reading, aggressive in-line skating, snowboarding, skiing, and eating. Yes, I really love food, and my wife is a great cook - life is good.

Why I am a Mormon

The gospel of Jesus Christ helps me. I need it. I'm not a perfect father and husband yet (or composer!) and I rely on Christ and His church to give me direction and guidance in this world. Perhaps the most important reason I'm a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is because I have read the Book of Mormon and know it to be a true book. With the Bible, the Book of Mormon has changed me in wonderful ways, making me less selfish and better able to see others as Christ sees them. I have prayed and received answers from God concerning this church and know that the doctrines taught in this religion are true.

How I live my faith

I am a volunteer Cub Scout Master for the local scout troop. I love working with the boys and seeing them learn and have fun. I'm really just a big kid myself and so I love to play games and go hiking etc. I also went through scouts as a kid (yep, eagle scout) and so I value the principles that scouting teaches. I feel that they align very well with my personal religious beliefs.
