Hi I'm Hillary

I'm a Texan, a wife and a mother to two fun-loving kids, a sports lover and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a stay-at-home wife to a hard-working PhD student and mother to two fun-loving kids. I also help teach a preschool co-op group for my daughter as well as a Sunday school class for 7-year-olds at church. I love to read good novels in my spare time and keep in touch with family and friends. I grew up in a big family that loved playing sports together. We would get together for Family Home Evening, have a lesson, and then play basketball, soccer or baseball. We were all competitive with each other and pushed each other to work harder. I remember staying until it was dark outside and my dad would turn the light on so I could keep shooting baskets. It's something that brought us together. The gospel is another aspect of my family that brought us together. I love the peace and love that comes when my kids are learning about the gospel. I love to read the Ensign with my husband at the end of the day. It's our time to connect and talk about what we experienced that day.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up attending the LDS church with my family on Sundays and always believed that the church was true based on the testimony of my parents and teachers. But I didn't really come to gain a testimony for myself until I left home for college and had to rely on myself to continue to follow His gospel. At times, I did struggle with staying active and participating in church activities. But I came to know for myself that Jesus Christ did atone for my sins. That even though I was far from perfect, I could still repent and come unto him. I chose to continue living my LDS faith because I love the principles taught in the church that come directly from Christ and his prophets and apostles.

How I live my faith

I live by faith by praying with my children, teaching them that God loves them and helping them learn from our current prophet and the prophets from the scriptures. Every Monday night we have family time, also known as "Family Home Evening", where we sit down and sing hymns, learn a lesson, spend quality time together playing games and improving our bonds with each other. I enjoy teaching the children in my Sunday school class, and I feel excited to talk with them about the gospel. Many of them have such strong testimonies already and have learned from a young age to follow Christ's example. I have learned as much as they have through preparing the lessons. I also love participating in church events organized for the women. It's such a strength to come together to learn valuable skills, share our faith and support those around us.
