Hi I'm Paul

I'm a Mormon; and a police officer. I work and live in the State of Washington.

About Me

I was born in Salt Lake City, the son of Norwegian immigrants who came to the United States in 1948. I have 2 sisters and one brother. My parents are 87 years old,and live with me; we still speak Norwegian with each other. I also have 3 sons and 2 daughters; son #3 is now serving a full time mission. My other sons and I all served full time LDS missions; I went to Norway. I am a police officer and have served on my department's SWAT Team, Crisis Negotiations Team, and Field Training Officer Team. I like to have a good time and have had many interests over the course of my life. These interests include scuba diving, a mountain climbing, backpacking, skiing, kayaking, motorcycling and a bicycling; life is to (among other things) ENJOY. So I make a point of doing just that.

Why I am a Mormon

"SECRET" INFORMATION Wow! Why wouldn't I be a Mormon? As I often tell others I am usually the happiest person in the room and there is a reason for that. As a Mormon it is as though I have secret information that is not readily available to anyone that gives me perspective which few others have. When I see disurbing images or stories on the news; when someone I knows dies; when I have to handle other personal difficulties (which we all have to do); when I come across devastation in peoples lives cause by others (usually as a police officer); or when I simply have a rough day...I have solace and I NEVER feel alone. The fruits of this perspective are peace, happiness, and joy. THE "SECRET" Okay there is no secret really. It may sometimes seem that way since what I know is readily available but hidden among all of the information that comes our way daily. The secret is that I know, absolutely, why I am here on the earth; where I was before I got here and, most importantly, where it is possible for me to go after I die. Yes, you read correctly, I KNOW because I am a Mormon. Mormons understand that our Father in Heaven is actually that...the father of our spirits. What father does not love, and want the best for his children? Our Father DOES love us and wants us to understand His true nature; a nature which has been confused since the time of Christ by disparate interpretations of the Bible. He also wants us to know the true nature and mission of His Son Jesus Christ, my Savior. Since you are reading this you are undoubtedly looking for answers that I have already found. Please consider the following: A loving Father in Heaven provides a way that you can know truth. A loving Father In Heaven does not intend many different interpretations of the Bible. A loving Father and His Son, instead, spoke to a young boy named Joseph Smith who had the very same questions you do. I KNOW IT. And, if I know it...so can you; just keep reading; you are on the right track.

How I live my faith

While I am far from perfect I try to live my faith daily. What this means is that I try to follow the example of my Savior; to treat others as I would be treated. When I strive to do this I am happy. I also find joy in giving service. This service might consist of preparing lessons to teach others at church. It might mean serving as a Scout Master (which I have done) and teaching boys important life skills as well as camping skills. I also go and visit a couple of families, monthly, with a fellow member of the congregation and check on their welfare. As most people do, I serve my family which consists of my aged parents and my daughter; we pray together every night.
