Hi I'm Citlaly

I was born in Jalisco, Mexico. I grew up in Las Vegas. I am an army veteran. I am a student of fashion design. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Jalisco, Mexico. My parents moved here to Las Vegas when I was three. I grew up here and I graduated from high school early in my senior year and then left my home and my family to serve my country. I was discharged due to disabilities I developed during my service. I returned home and spent many years trying to find my way in life. I am now a student of fashion design. I love being able to express myself with this form of art. I love good music, food, and art. Reading and writing are among my favorite activities. I have a younger sister who is the mother of two beautiful boys. I love spending time with her and her family. And I love them with all of my heart- they bring me so much joy and happiness. Having fun is one of my favorite things to do, whether it's with friends or family. I love making people smile and laugh, that is the epitome of having fun in life. There is something that happens within me when I see a smile on someone else's face, or when I hear their laughter fill the room- it is truly my favorite hobby.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents converted when I was only three years old. Both of them had been raised in the Catholic church. My father had left the beliefs he was raised with having determined that there was no God. When I asked him what made him think that he answered that he had read the Bible many times over and that if it was true and there really was a God there would have to be one true religion and that it would have to support what the Bible taught. My mother had also left her religion to seek greater wisdom, she had been to meetings with the Jehovah's witnesses, but she felt something was still missing. The first time the Mormon missionaries came to their door and shared the message of the gospel with my parents they knew it was true. It was the doctrine that families can be together forever that caught their attention. Years later it would be that same doctrine that would help our family endure a great test of faith. My older brother was killed in his senior year of high school. Knowing that our Heavenly Father loves us so much that he has made it possible for us to be together as a family again is one of the greatest blessings I have ever known. I joined the church because of my parents. I am still an active member of the church because I have personally tasted of the goodness of the love of Christ in my life. Through all of my trials He has been there, and many times he has been the only one who knew what I was going through. I know that my Savior loves me and I have come to know who he is. I may not be perfect, but I love who I am. I am this way because I have come to know and love him. Christ is the greatest blessing in my life, he is my fullest joy.

How I live my faith

I have been a part of a group for single members for some years now. I love to interact with all different kinds of people and this has allowed me to do so in many ways. We organize many activities to keep busy and have safe, clean fun. My favorite activities are those where we help to serve others like cleaning state parks, sending our troops care packages, making blankets for victims of natural disasters, and cleaning an elderly person's yard. Every year, during Christmas, I have the chance to go and help make gift baskets for an organization that helps serve blind people in our community. It is my favorite part of the Christmas holiday, and what I look forward to most when the season arrives. I love getting involved with our missionaries and telling others about Jesus Christ. The feeling I get as I watch others improve their life and find real, lasting joy is something that I could never describe with words. The gospel of Christ is what makes me happiest and I want others to feel the way that I feel. Even when I am not doing something with other church members I am looking for ways to help those around me. I think it is what Jesus would do, so why not me?

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Citlaly
This is a fun question for me to answer. There are many things in my life that testify to me that there is a God. And many of these things are the small and simple everyday things we take for granted. I love sitting on a mountainside at night and looking at the stars, or watching the sun rise over the city I live in. It is amazing to me that God knows me so much that he created a beautiful world full of wonderful landscapes for me to see. I get the same feeling when I hold a cuddly puppy, or when I eat a good meal, or when I see a bright beautiful flower- I know I was not created to love these things, but that they were created because he loves me. Sometimes I will be out and about with my friends and we will see something beautiful and I will smile and say "You guys, God loves us" and it will bring a warm feeling to my heart.
