Hi I'm John Markham

I was a computer engineer who discovered the world of natural healing and became a chiropractor. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a father of 9 children. I have 8 grandchildren. They are all unique individuals and have special gifts and talents that make each one of them wonderfully original. I served in the US Naval Reserve during the Viet Nam era. I was originally trained as a computer engineer but changed my career path to become a chiropractor. It was during my chiropractic school days that I discovered the church. My parents had 9 children and I grew up in a loving supportive Catholic family. I was not looking for another church. I was preparing a class on modern religions and never gave the class because I joined the Mormon church. When I learned of the restored Gospel and read the Book of Mormon it changed my life. I am so grateful for the blessing it has been in my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon for one key reason. I read the Book of Mormon and prayed about it and I felt the witness of the Holy Ghost confirm that it was true. I was raised Catholic and loved my experience in the Catholic church. There were some questions that I had which the priests did not have clear answers to. The questions I had were answered when I understood the restoration of the Gospel, the need for a living prophet, and read the Book of Mormon. I found my appreciation and love for the Bible increased dramatically once I read the Book of Mormon. When I came to know that the church and the priesthood had in fact been restored it became obvious that something had been lost to all mankind and would help everyone by its restoration. I wanted to be a part of the work to help everyone who loves Jesus Christ to know Him better. I think everyone should study the Book of Mormon even if they are not members of the L.D.S. Church. It will help them understand the Bible much better. I remain a member of the Mormon church because living the Gospel as it has been restored blesses me and my family in so many ways I can't number them all. While living the Gospel in our day is not always easy, it is always worth it.

How I live my faith

Living the Gospel is a wonderful blessing. While I never had the opportunity to serve a full time mission for the Lord I have seen how this service not only blesses the lives of those served but the lives of those performing the service. I get to visit with other members and they visit me regularly. i have the opportunity to take on responsibilities of service for example in Sunday School or in other capacities in the ward (congregation). In the home we pray together, study the scriptures together, play together and help each other progress in this life and prepare for a forever together.
