Hi I'm Laura Dawn

I am from Utah. I love dance, music, and learning. I love to have fun and focus on the positive things in life.

About Me

I grew up thinking that I would go to college, meet the man of my dreams, have children and be a stay at home mom. I am now 31 and in a older singles ward. I have come to discover that life doesn't turn out they way you plan or expect. There are a lot of curve balls thrown in your way and a lot of unfulfilled dreams. But, despite not having some of the things I have hoped I would have I am a very happy person and live a very fulfilled life. I have been able to work and finish my Master's degree which is something I never thought I would do. I recently started taking ballet classes, which is something I had always dreamed of doing as a child. I have an amazing family who love and support me always. My friends are better to me than I feel I deserve and I have become a person that I never could have become on my own. I strongly believe that God is aware of me and that he has placed opportunities in my path that have cause me to stretch and to grow. There have been times where I have questioned him and wanted my life to be different than it is. But, he has always given more than I have hoped for when it is all said and done. I love life, I love people, and I have a strong spirit. These things cause me to be somewhat of a dreamer and also to have lots of fun for no reason. If you meet me you would probably agree that I almost always have a smile on my face. Why? Because the gospel of Jesus Christ gives me reason to smile :)

Why I am a Mormon

Why am I a Mormon? I was raised in the church and always felt very connected to the gospel principles I was taught. The resonated with me and I felt deep down in my heart and mind that they were true. I have always been a spiritual person and have felt love from God through family and friends throughout my life. I never really questioned what I was taught growing up, but since I have been on my own and away from my parents and my comfort zone I have had experiences that have led me to question what I believe to some extent. I have had multiple experiences where I have felt God's love and assurance that what I have been taught is true despite my doubts. Why do I continue to follow my faith? Because I believe in Christ. I believe that he lived and died for all mankind. I believe in God and I pray to him each day. I believe the scriptures are his word and they fill my soul with light. I live my faith because it makes me happy and inspires me to be more like Christ. It makes me want to share this hope and happiness with others. I feel the spirit of God when I go to church, when I read scriptures, when true principles are talked about or taught. I lived my faith because I believe in it and I believe that Christ will come to earth again someday.

How I live my faith

I live a pretty simple life. I haven't done anything amazing or that people would talk about. I live my faith by being kind to people around me. Being grateful for the gift of life and health. I live my faith by praying to God, reading scriptures, going to church, and serving people around me. I basically just try to follow Christ and to be more like him. I seek for things that are inspiring and uplifting in music, movies, etc. I like to have fun as well :) Which you can have a lot of good fun and lead an honest and virtous life at the same time. I spend a lot of time with my immediate family and with close friends. I believe that the way we treat others and interact with them is one of the best ways we can serve and be more like Christ.
