Hi I'm Mary Beth

I was born and raised in Indiana. I love to dance. I enjoy the outdoors. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love the outdoors (Hiking, walking, going on an adventure through the woods, you name it). I also love dogs. I have a Siberian Husky and a Labrador Retriever mix. I have 2 younger brothers (no sisters!) and wonderful parents. I have never been out of the U.S. (Although, I would love to travel to England someday because that's where my ancestors lived). I participated in color and winter guard for about 7 years and enjoyed every minute of it. I love to listen, sing, and dance to music. I have learned to play a bit of piano and am still learning. I enjoy being with my family and friends and having a great time with great food of course! I also love photography. Capturing the moment and sharing it with others is one of the joys of life.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in an LDS home. I took it for granted a lot. But I couldn't keep leaning on my parents' and other family members' testimonies. So, (when I was 13 or 14) I did what Joseph Smith and many others after him did. I prayed to know if the Book of Mormon, the gospel, Jesus Christ, and everything about the gospel was true/ real. Everyone feels the Spirit (or Holy Ghost) differently. When I prayed for Heavenly Father to tell me if this gospel was true I felt peace and reassurance that the gospel I had been taught my whole life was true and I was where I needed to be. Ever since that prayer, I have strived to live the gospel and share it with others by word and example. Don't get me wrong. It wasn't and isn't always a walk in the park. There are times when I want to give up and say, 'I can't do this anymore! Life is too hard. I can't take it.' or 'I can't stand to live in a world where people kill each other and where people die young and people starve and suffer.' But then I remember that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ love me and I wouldn't want to disappoint Them. I also remember that Christ (my elder Brother!) will come again and that makes life a little easier to deal with.

How I live my faith

I pray... a lot. I need guidance and comfort from my Heavenly Father throughout my day, not just at meal times. I "go and do" (like Nephi in the Book of Mormon). That is the only way you can come to know if something is true. You need to test, prove, and strengthen your faith everyday. I am a seminary teacher for my "home" branch (Where I went to church with my family before I went to college). I have 6 students. We start class at 6:30 a.m. and end around 7:20 a.m. Yes, we get up and study the scriptures early in the morning! Studying/ pondering the scriptures and inviting the Holy Ghost into your heart is a wonderful way to start your day.
