Hi I'm Larry

I'm a father of 8 and grandfather of 5 and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I enjoy spending time with my family. I enjoy all outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, hiking, camping, canoeing, kayaking and just enjoying the great outdoors. I live in rural southern Indiana with lots of animals, woods, streams, lakes and beautiful scenery. I enjoy working with my hands. I built my house, garage, and barns myself with the help of my wife and then 10 year old son. I enjoy cutting wood, gardening, and the shooting sports. I enjoy serving my fellow man and my family. I love the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the light, joy and direction it brings to my life.

Why I am a Mormon

Even as a child, I have always been sensitive of spiritual things. In my youth, I felt the comfort of the spirit as I would wander the woods and hills of southern Indiana. Not quite understanding the workings of the spirit, I began to read the Bible at an early age. My grandmother taught me the principle of prayer and my parents taught me the value in serving others. My parents were not active in any church with my father being of the Methodist faith and my mother's family Catholic. We rarely talked of the Saviour Jesus Christ in my home but I nonetheless felt a kinship to Him. My grandmother would read the parables of the new testamnet to me before I could read. My favorite was that of the Good Samaritan and I have tried to order my life with that of this servant of the Lord. It was not until I was twenty five years old that I was introduced to the Church by a co-worker. I studied the Book of Mormon and prayed about the truthfulness of it and the Prophet Joseph Smith. I have been an active member since that time. I know that this is the true Church of our Savour Jesus Christ. I know thatif we so order our lives to the principles and precepts that he teaches in the holy scriptures and through his servants the prophets that we will have a fullnes of joy in this life and the life hereafter. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen

How I live my faith

Since my baptism in The Church, I have been active in my local unit. I have served as youth leader, scout leader, various adult leadership positions including local ecclesiastical leader, leader of missionary efforts, and various teaching positions. I have had opportunities to speak in meetings and organize open houses and firesides. Since my membership in the church began, I have had the blessing of being assigned to visit several families in the church each month to take spiritual message and assist the head of household in their responsibilities. I have repaired vehicles, repaired furnaces, installed sewer systems, cut wood, repaired roofs, pumped water from floods, removed tornado fallen trees from houses, and given comfort and counsel to my assigned families. I have organized cleanup efforts from two tornados and assisted in the flood recovery in southern Indiana a few years ago. It has been my pleasure to serve those less fortunate than I. I have served in regional welfare councils and provided instruction for community emergency preparedness efforts. Recently, my wife and I taught a "Strengthening Marriage" class in our local unit. I continue to teach my adult children and grandchildren the principles of the Lord's Kingdom and encourage them to let their light shine to be witnesses of the Saviour Jesus Christ.
