Hi I'm L.J.

I am a native Arizonan,a former college athlete, a banker, a husband and brother and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Growing up in Eastern Arizona I developed a love for sports and the outdoors. I am a huge baseball fan and played college baseball in Arizona and Oklahoma. I married my best friend and college sweetheart five years ago and enjoy spending as much time as possible with her. I enjoy being outdoors and try to go running, biking, swimming and hiking as much as possible. I love to travel and see new places and meet new people and am continously amazed at all the beautiful places God has created. I love my family and feel fortunate to have two amazing parents and two wonderful sisters that I wish I could spend more time with. They mean the world to me and we always have a good time when we get together. My wife and I also have two dogs Brusier and Roxy that we spoil rotten and take on walks nearly everyday.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because It makes me happy, it helps me feel of God's love for me as his son and makes me want to be better in every aspect of my life. As I have learned about the church and tried to implement our Saviours teachings in my life the Holy Ghost has whispered to me of the truethfulness of its teachings. I know the words found in John 7:17 are true "If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself" what a promise. God is telling us we can know if the doctrines we are taught are true by living them, as we live those principles we will know if they come from God or from other source. Throughout my life as I have put this promise to the test I have felt of God's love for me and I know the teachings I have received are from his servants on the earth today. There are too many moments to count when I have known that what I was hearing in church or what I was reading truly came from a loving Heavenly Father. I am a member of this church because I know it is true as a result of the feelings I get when I live its principles.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith by following the Saviours example of going about doing good. I try to serve those in my community by visiting those I know are in need of help and sharing the good news of the gospel and the hope it provides. I love that in the church there is no paid clergy but rather all the work is voluntary we are each given opportunites to help others through various assignments. Those voulantary assignements are called "callings". My current calling is to oversee a group of men between the ages of 18 and approximately 45 become the best men, husbands, fathers and brothers they can become. I do that by making sure they are spiritually feed each week when the come to church, I also work with others in our group to make sure each one is visited once a month in their home by a pair of friends from church, making sure their physical and spiritual needs are met. We also try to get togther once a quarter to have a good time, share a good meal and enjoy some type of activitiy. I volunteer to help in the community with different humantarian efforts. I am a a volunteer for the International Rescue Committee, an organization that helps to establish families that have fled their country to escape persucation.
